After many months of these on order, we finally got in our Gretsch Round Up guitars! Only 8 exist, and we have all 8. They’re all spoken for, too. I’m going over these to make sure they’re good to ship off. Also working on this Fender Tele with a chambered body for a Patreon member. Setup in standard.

I’ve got a lot of guitars in line right now, so my turnaround for non-Patreon members is getting a little slow, but I’m working as hard as I can to keep things moving, so bear with me, folks.

Over the past week or so, I’ve talked to a dozen or more new clients, and probably just as many of my regular customers, and I told all of them that I couldn’t accept their guitars until after this week due to a medical procedure that was initially scheduled on September 2nd (my next scope). I just found out today, that it’s getting rescheduled to October 15th, so I will be continuing work as normal until then. If you’re seeing this and we had that conversation, feel free to reach out again and we can figure out an updated timeline for your repairs. Thank you for understanding.

These two from today make three Teles in a row on the bench. Both of these are Fender - a Road Worn for my friends in StopGap Solution, getting a fret level and setup, and a 90s Mexican Standard getting a setup for slide, and a big time buff and polish.

Speaking of Teles, has anyone watched that Fender documentary on the Tele that they announced today? I haven’t had time yet, but I definitely intend to. Should be a cool watch. 📺

I hope everyone is having a great weekend, so far. I’m getting into a couple of guitars for my good friends in StopGap Solution, starting with this partscaster Tele. Interestingly enough, this guitar used to be mine. I put it together from a laundry list of parts, and there’s just something really special about how it turned out. It sounds amazing, and plays like a dream. Partscasters can be a crap shoot when you’re throwing together parts that don’t want to play nice together, but this one defied all the odds, and became a truly great guitar. I never should have sold it. 😬 I’m doing a much needed fret level and a setup on this guitar. I hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.

As some of you know, I stopped refinishing guitars a few years ago for health reasons. I’ll do some light work here and there, or stain finishes with no clear, but I farm all my headstock repair paint jobs, and anything else major to my good friend, Mike Bertoldo. He does great work, and his prices are really fair.

This Gibson SG Junior used to be Vintage Cherry, but the customer wanted it completely refinished in this green color that you’re seeing here! This is a lot harder than a standard refinish, as it had a red stain on it before, and that had to be carefully removed, and then re-stained this green color to match what the customer wanted, and then re-cleared. Tons and tons of hours put into this one, and Mike absolutely killed it on this job.

Now, it’s my turn to get to work on it. Doing a compete custom rewire with a TV Jones FilterTron with coil split, a treble bleed circuit, and a no-load tone control. Also, replacing the bridge with a Leo Quan Badass bridge, and setting it up in standard with D'Addario 10-46s. Have a great weekend, guys.

We made it to Friday, guys. It’s been a heck of a week. I got a bunch done today, including these two cool ones. A Gibson Johnny A. signature model, and a Valley Arts Tele, both in for setup work. Have a great weekend, everybody.

Another busy day at the shop. Did a fret job and setup on this vintage Fender P Bass (guess the year and get a free internet cookie 🍪). Also, had the pleasure of setting up two acoustic guitars that were purchased right here at Circle Music Center from two of my very good friends and customers. A Gibson J-45 and a Martin X Series. Both of these setups were free to the customer. If you buy a guitar from me, I’ll set it up for you for no charge! Chuck will give you a great deal, and I’ll make it play right for you! Hit me up if you’re looking for something cool. If we don’t have it, we can probably get it.

Busy day at the home base shop, today. Fret level, setup, and an electronics check on this cool, yellow Firefly SG3. Setup and minor fretwork on this good looking Gibson Les Paul. Also had to sort out some tuning issues on that one. And I finished up the day with a volume pot replacement on a G&L Tele. I have another busy day lined up at the shop tomorrow, so I’ll see you guys then.

Back in the shop today. I spent some time with this vintage Gibson ES-175, chasing down a pesky rattle. I could have sworn it was coming from the tailpiece, which is really common, but it was actually coming from the volume pot. I took it out and removed the nut that was mounting it to the underside of the top, then remounted it with the pot casing itself sitting against the body, and the problem was solved. Definitely a tricky one, but I refuse to be deflated by a rattle! It was here for a setup, as well. I also finished a simple electronics repair on this Fender Tele, and a setup in drop B on this classic, black Gibson Les Paul.

Also, RIP Dolly Parton. Definitely a legend gone too soon. 🙏🏻

I finished up the Strat’s fret job from yesterday, and got into these two on this sunny Monday. A Martin 0-18 getting a setup and a strap button install, and a Tagima Strat getting a setup with a couple of other odds and ends. Have a great week, everybody.
