I’ve got a fresh off the assembly line, Jon Jourdan PRS on the bench today for PRS Pulse artist, Zack Smith from StopGap Solution! As well as another PRS McCarty Soapbar, dating back to 1999, or as I like to call it, “the good ‘ol days.” Both are here for setups. Also, had a Fender P Bass getting a Fralin pickup swap for a Patreon member.

One last reminder that I won’t be working for the next few days due to a medical procedure, tomorrow. I had a couple of friends stop by today to wish me their blessings, and I can’t even begin to tell you how much that means to me. Thank you. 🙏🏻

Busy day back in the shop. I started the day off with a Jimmie Vaughan Fender Strat getting a setup for a Patreon member. Then moved on to a Fender Tele that’s here for an electronics repair, restring and cleanup, a Martin GPC-16E getting a setup, and started on a Gretsch Silver Falcon that’s here for a fret level and setup.

One more day to go at the shop, and then I have to take off for a few days. Please read my pinned post if you haven’t already done so. Thank you for your understanding and support. 🙏🏻

⚠️CLOSED 10/15-18 - PLEASE READ⚠️

My next scope/biopsy is scheduled for Thursday, October 15th, so I will be unable to work for a few days. Unfortunately, these dates do also include Patreon members, so I’m very sorry about that. Please keep me in your prayers for that day, if you don’t mind. I’ll get back to work as soon as possible because I have a bunch of guitars in line, and missing even just a few days of work really affects my finances. That makes taking those few days off even more frustrating, but it is what it is. I’ll be at the shop Tuesday and Wednesday this week, and will see everybody again the following week.

Well, it was supposed to be doom and gloom weather here in Memphis due to the hurricane down south, but it’s an absolutely beautiful day outside. Enjoy the sun while you can, people. It’ll be cold and gross before we know it…

Happy Friday, everyone. Here’s a couple from the day. A Taylor 614CE getting a setup, new tuners, new bridge pins, and to repair a rattling battery box. Just got done with a very challenging binding repair on this Martin Custom Shop J-40. The binding appeared to have been separated for a very long time because there was absolutely no way possible to stretch it back into place with heat on either the front or the back. It would have either melted, or broken. I had to remove about 90% of the binding (I kept it holding at the shoulders), and then glue the binding back into the shape of the body, and then heat it up to make sure it adhered to the new shape. Of course, this left a small gap at the butt end on both the top and back, so I had to splice two pieces of new binding into those areas so it wouldn’t have bare wood showing anywhere. The headstock binding was separated on the bass side, but that was a simple glue and clamp job. The guitar turned out pretty nice, and I think the customer will be able to enjoy it for many years to come. The photos show the guitar before and after the repair.

I’ve had several people ask me about the new Fender Squier Troy Van Leeuwen 12-string Tele, and they just showed up, today! These are such cool guitars! I put it on the bench to do a quick setup and check it out for myself, but once I tuned it up, it played just fine, but I wanted to let folks know that these are in stock and ready to purchase at Circle Music Center.

The other guitar is a Tagima Strat getting a new neck and setup. No, this is not the one from a few days ago, but it does belong to the same guy. The original neck is hard warped, so I’m putting on a Tagima neck that actually goes to their Jazzmaster-style guitar, and as you probably guessed, it doesn’t just bolt right up without modification, so it was a mild challenge getting it installed and making it play right. Where there’s a will, there’s a way, right?

Busy day up at the shop, today. I had a beautiful, brand new Rickenbacker 3030, a Yamaha Broadbass, and a Martin X Series, all here for setups. As well as a Martin SPDC-16R here for a pickup diagnosis and a setup.
