“Update on baby boy and I🤍
The last couple of weeks have brought news that completely changed what I thought the rest of this pregnancy would look like.
At our most recent scan, I got the unexpected news that I have placenta percreta, the most severe form of the placenta accreta spectrum. Basically this means that my placenta has grown through my uterus and has started to grow into my bladder. Because of this, my pregnancy is now considered extremely high risk.
This means I won’t be able to have our originally planned c-section in Nov. at Akron General. Our sweet baby boy will now need to be delivered much earlier by a carefully planned c-section at main campus with a large team of doctors from multiple specialties. The surgery will include hysterectomy to remove my uterus (trying to separate the placenta could cause life threatening bleeding), tube removal, and (hopefully not too extensive) bladder repair.
There is still a lot we are learning about this, and while this diagnosis is scary, I feel incredibly grateful to have an amazing team at the clinic caring for both me and baby boy. Right now, our goal is to keep him growing for as long as possible that is also safe for me too.
It’s important to add that right now little man is perfect, healthy, and measuring ahead💪🏻 Keep growing baby.
We’re taking things one appointment, one scan, and one day at a time. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared, but I’m also choosing to hold onto hope and trust the incredible team at the clinic who has been working with us.
Our next appointment is big one, and I’ll have more info to share after a more detailed ultrasound and MRI.
Thank you to everyone who has already checked in, offered encouragement, and surrounded our family with so much love. We truly appreciate every message, every prayer, and every good vibe sent our way more than you know. ❤️ “
