Earlier this year, Megan heard that our customer Greg was searching for a 1960s Publix advertisement that featured his late brother. Not only was Megan able to locate it deep within our archives, but she took it upon herself to retouch, print, frame, and personally deliver multiple copies to Greg and his family in Fort Myers, Florida.
“My family extends heartfelt gratitude to Megan for gifting us with this piece of family history," said Greg. "My brother spoke of this ad often. Having a tangible piece of him to hold onto, in addition to his memory, means the world to us.”
Because of her efforts, Megan was presented with the Mr. George Gold Coin Award, a prestigious recognition that honors our founder's philosophy of going above and beyond to be there for our customers. 💚

When Christopher and Alyssa’s cake plans fell through the night before their wedding, they felt hopeless. That’s when Mary, the mother of the groom, turned to Publix for help. Bakery Manager Shamika G. and her team took on the challenge during a busy holiday weekend, creating the perfect cake in a matter of hours.

Cameron, an active-duty U.S. Navy sailor, has been stationed in Japan for the past three years. One of the things he missed most was our Publix Chicken Tender Sub.

We love hearing about the strong relationships between our associates and customers! Produce Clerk Gilnet looks forward to his weekly visits with 6-year-old Fiona and her mom when they visit their favorite Publix. Gilnet and Fiona always exchange a high-five when they see each other. In fact, Fiona even calls him “High-Five!”
“Our relationship started before Fiona was born, when her parents and grandparents met up every Saturday at Publix,” Gilnet said. “Three months after she was born, they started bringing her in, and I’d always say, ‘Hi Fiona.’”
As Fiona got older, the two began exchanging high-fives, further strengthening their bond. When Fiona celebrated her 3rd birthday, Gilnet had more than just a high-five ready for her — he surprised her with a new bicycle.
“Our friendship gives me so much happiness and joy,” Gilnet said. “She always looks for me when she comes into the store. I’ve been able to see her grow up and form a bond with her that’s had an amazing impact on my life.”
Because of his kind heart and actions, Gilnet was honored with our Mr. George Gold Coin Award, named after Publix founder, George W. Jenkins. A Mr. George Gold Coin Award is given to associates who embrace the Publix culture and provide premier service the way Mr. George himself would have. Receiving a gold coin means an associate has made a real difference in the lives of others by going above and beyond.
