Residents chose their own adventure at this physician wellness event—this group enjoyed a bike ride along the NTN South Trails to Morgan Falls and Carp River Falls along the Carp River and Carp Eh Diem trail. Between the calming natural surroundings and the benefits of low-impact exercise, it was a great way to recharge and boost overall wellness.

SPOTLIGHT - Shelby Robinson, MD
Dr. Robinson is known for being highly organized, knowledgeable, straightforward, and compassionate. Her kindness and authenticity allow her to easily build strong, lasting relationships with patients. She demonstrates confident leadership with both her care team and patients, advocates fiercely for those she serves, and meets patients where they are. She excels at delivering comprehensive, family-centered care and is consistently valued for her thoughtful, practical advice.

Future Plans
After residency, I will be working at South Shore Family Practice in Marquette, MI. I will be practicing full-spectrum Family Medicine including inpatient, outpatient, and obstetrics.

Greatest Residency Experiences
My greatest experience has been getting to work with so many intelligent and kind attendings and residents. I’ve had so many examples of exemplary physicians to learn from that have made me a better physician. My colleagues are some of the most empathetic and supportive people I have known and have made my residency experience positive and memorable in a way that would not have been possible without them.

Program Director of the Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program, Dr. Suzanne Clarke, completed the National Institute for Program Director Development fellowship. The program is specific to family medicine residency directors to develop excellence in residency education with focus on leadership development, resource allocation, familiarity with regulations and standards, educational options and personnel management skills. Congratulations Dr. Clarke!

I will be practicing inpatient and outpatient family medicine at Baraga County Memorial Hospital in L’Anse, MI

Dr. Romano is recognized for his compassion, intelligence, confidence, and engaging sense of humor. He is attentive to individual patient needs and consistently delivers evidence-based care. His calm, laid-back, and levelheaded approach is a true asset, especially in challenging situations. An excellent listener, he also brought tremendous value to patients through his effective use of osteopathic medicine.

Future Plans
I will be practicing as a hospitalist for Apogee at UP Health System – Marquette

Working with a supportive group of colleagues and attendings and getting to practice medicine in many varied clinical settings including internationally.

Our resident volunteers celebrated Earth Day 2026 with a community cleanup! Working in two teams near the hospital, they helped tidy up and make a positive impact. Small efforts can make a big difference—great work by our residents and youth volunteers!
