In the quest to perfect my sourdough game, I tried a croissant sourdough recipe. Even the hubs went back for a second and third taste. That is high praise.

I turned out light crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. With the perfect balance of buttery with the sourdough tang.

Meet Jane Dough. She comes by way of a 180+ year old San Francisco starter.

As the legend goes the starter was born in 1849 carried to San Francisco by a Basque gold miner and spread to local bakeries.

Now a part of the starter lives in Georgia. This is my first sourdough. Made with fresh milled flour from my kitchen.

We are trying something new in the kitchen. We are milling our own flour for bread, pastries and pasta.

It is a healthier option from the processed and bleached flour sold in the grocery stores.

Today is banana coffee cake with walnut and coconut topping.
