today marks two years of Yellow Rose Vegan Bakery and Cafe🎉! it’s truly insane the amount of change and growth we’ve gone through these past couple years. from recipe testing in Stephen’s parents basement to moving into our very own storefront, it’s been a wild ride!
we’re so thankful to have become such a big part of folks daily, weekly, and monthly routine
we’re thankful for the MAPSO community that has been more than welcoming to us ever since we’ve opened the shop back in 2020
we’re thankful for Juliette, Allyson, Maddye, Mar, Giovanna, + Rebecca, our baristas who make flawless drinks and who have sparked so many amazing conversations/relationships with customers
we’re thankful for Millie, a decorating whiz, who has unlocked tons of creativity in the kitchen and allows us to make more treats than ever before!
we’re thankful for all our previous team members who’ve helped us to get where we are today
we’re thankful for Sequoia who has quickly become the yellow rose mascot and the source of a ton of our motivation

so a bit of bad news but also some really big news coming up! Stephen still isn’t feeling well and Caitlyn also just tested positive for COVID yesterday. unfortunately as a result, we’re going to have to keep the cafe closed through the weekend.
buuut… beginning next week, we will officially be back open WEDNESDAY through SUNDAY!
furthermore, our popup typewriter poetry with Qwerty poetry will be rescheduled to Saturday, December 17th! we’ll keep y’all updated on the details as the day comes💛
✨important update✨ we’re gearing up to re-open the cafe this week after our quick post-thanksgiving break! unfortunately, in the midst of our holiday festivities, Stephen tested positive for covid. our tentative plan is to re-open this saturday, 12/3 for our normal business hours of 9am-5pm, depending on how quickly we’re all back to 100%!
we’ll keep ya posted here if anything changes, but we can’t wait to get back and bake up some new seasonal treats to ring in the holiday season🎄🕎✨

our cafe hours for this week! we’re taking a quick break from all the prep work to give ya some updates. first off, thank y’all so much for all the Thanksgiving preorders! we were SO flipping happy with how this years menu came out and can’t wait for you to add all the treats to your celebrations!🎉
secondly, we’re going to be open TOMORROW (Wednesday) 9am-5pm as well as Thursday from 9am-12pm! we’ll have a limited bakery case but still plenty of favorites including donuts, cinnamon rolls, breakfast sandwiches, + of course coffee! the cafe will be closed Friday 11/25, Saturday 11/26, and Sunday 11/27
finally, if you weren’t able to place your preorder in time, we’re planning to stock the bakery case this week with any extra pies, bars, mac n’ cheeze, and full sized quiches we have left. with all that said, we’re going to get back to it and we can’t wait to see all y’all’s beautiful faces tomorrow and thursday💛💛

donating to a local community fridge really is such an easy and accessible way to give! we also recently found out that the maplewood fridge was only just opened a year ago so we want to keep spreading the news!
we’ve only been dropping off treats for a few months at this point and have had so many positive interactions with people there. we can’t stress just how much this fridge gets used. if you have the time + ability to, we highly encourage stopping by and helping fight the food insecurity in our town. this is located at Indiana Street and, Springfield Ave💛

@njdotcom made a video about our taylor ham breakfast sandwiches!✨ we feel so privileged to have our bakery featured on such a large platform so all we can say is thank you, thank you, thank you! and while we understand the reason, unfortunately the part of the interview where we explain why we even started a vegan bakery to begin with was cut out one of the main motivations was and still is because we want to create a kinder world not just for other humans but also for all sentient life. we wanted to show that you don’t need to sacrifice flavor to live even just a bit more compassionately🐷🐮🐔 and while taste shouldn’t be a reason to continue harming others, we’re lucky enough to say that lots of people think our stuff is pretty darn good. and if ya don’t believe us, come see for yourself today or tomorrow💛😉

welcome to yellow rose vegan! yellow rose is an online vegan bakery founded and operated by us, caitlyn and stephen. we met in college when we started our school’s first vegan club. we co-ran the club and made some huge strides for vegan living across our campus and it fueled an unstoppable passion for vegan activism. at the same time, we bonded over our shared love for food--eating it and making it! we decided that beyond our college careers, creating and sharing vegan food was something we wanted to dedicate ourselves to. now, we’re on a mission to veganize all of your favorite baked goods.
we started yellow rose in january of 2020 after over a year of planning and perfecting our recipes. we launched as a completely online bakery, offering delivery within new jersey and then expanding throughout the northeast. now, we’re so excited to have found a home in a commercial kitchen where we offer pickup. we even have our treats stocked at multiple vegan-friendly restaurants around the state! you can find us there, or at local farmer’s markets on the weekends. whether on the web or in person, we aim to bring comfort to you in the form of delicious, cruelty-free treats.
