A little bittersweet news about our Choctaw Diamond soap. The original Sweet Grass fragrance oil was SO GOOD… but the company went out of business (I have a lot to say about how many of our industry’s businesses have gone out this year because of the current administration, but I’ll leave that for another post). Cue six months of hunting, sniffing, ordering samples, trying to find a replacement.

I think I finally found a really good one! Sweet Grass & Cedar is sweet, earthy and grassy with warm cedar wood. Is it exactly like the original? No, and I’m still a little sad about that. But I genuinely love this one too. And the supplier isn’t going anywhere… I hope! 😊♦️🌀🪶🧼

On this day, we wear orange to honor the survivors of residential schools and their families, while remembering those who never returned home.

Observed every year on September 30th in both Canada and the U.S., Orange Shirt Day serves as a reminder of the painful history of residential schools.

The tradition began in 2013, inspired by Phyllis Webstad (Northern Secwépemc (Shuswap) from the Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation in Canada) who shared how her brand new orange shirt, a gift from her grandmother, was taken from her on her first day at a residential school and never returned to her. It’s a time for reflection, learning, and supporting the path to healing. 🧡🧡🧡

September 27, 1830. “From Mississippi to Oklahoma”

The Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek changed the course of Chahta history and set the forced removal of our people from our homelands. This soap is a reminder of the what was set in motion to be forced to walk the Trail of Tears, and of the generations who endured being separated from the land and home they knew.

We were removed but we are still here. No one can take that away, no matter how many times men with an agenda, force themselves in our path.
