Part 2: Working by yourself can get lonely, & some days it’s nice to work quietly, but my goodness there are only so many murder & crime podcasts a girl can listen to! 😂👀 And for those who know me, you know I love to talk & be around people. And rolling 3000 cookies alone in December takes a toll on a girl!

I tried and I tried on multiple occasions to move my business into a local shop in lynnfield so I could hire local moms & teens looking for part time hours, or just a place to have human connections. I had great plans and wanted to create a place for our kids to go and hang around after school without getting in trouble, but the town center apparently would rather sit empty than put small town business in there. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So after years of trying, I am officially retiring the apron & putting away “big Bertha” my mixer. The past few months I have found other things in life that drive my passion. That make me feel whole again and I’m so thankful for that and I’m so lucky that I am able to do that. I’m excited to make cookies with my kids again and actually enjoy that memory with them!

I am so thankful for all of my loyal family, customers & friends who stood by and supported me for so many years. I am so appreciative of all of you. I hope you can find something that feeds your soul and makes you truly happy in your life and if it doesn’t… then let it go.

And who knows, some day you might just find a bag of “cookies just because” hanging on your doorknob from me!

Sorry, long it’s! Part 1: Today is a good day! It is a day to do things that make you feel good and make choices that feed YOUR soul! It’s a day of goodbyes and new beginnings. It is a day to say goodbye to something that was and still is one of the best and challenging experiences of my life.

I grew up making cookies with my mom in our little kitchen in a row home in Philly. whether it was the holiday or just a random day, making cookies with my mom is apparently a memory that stuck in my mind , so much so, that I decided I wanted to create the perfect cookie. You can say what you want about any other cookie, but as I go out with a bang here, I will say that my cookies are good, like, really good. And the reason I perfected my recipe is b/c I was sick of trying cookies that look so good, but taste like super market, generic cookies. Not a lot of flavor but tons of sugar & chocolate….& just not worth the calories!😂 I’ve made cookies for most people in the town of Lynnfield(& if I haven’t…😉). I’ve made cookies for many surrounding towns, wine shops, businesses, fundraisers, schools, events, sports, hotels, famous people, etc.

My most favorite order was for Broadway Cares & Sara Bareilles. What an amazingly cool experience that was. I was recently asked by a professional boston sports team and I had to say No. Thats when I knew it was time to announce my cookie run was ending. This role as a “the cookie lady” was just not making me happy anymore. It became a task.

Making cookies was a great experience. It taught me more about life. It taught me ALOT about people & “friends.” It taught me about loyalty. It taught me a lot about living in a small town.

I can’t even believe that Maggie is 12 years old! how did she get so old? how did we get so old? I am so, so thankful to be able to say I am her mom.

These tween years are not the easiest, especially with Covid thrown in to the mix… & it’s that age of “girl drama“ & as a mom I want to say YES to so much because it’s easier to say yes, than listen to “why?, “you never let me” but I know I have to stay strong to make her strong. It’s exhausting, I’m not going to lie, but worth it.

I know that Because some days I feel like I am raising myself.. I was Maggie. I questioned everything & I still do. I try to remind myself all the time that she is learning every day & not to take these years personally. That I too am learning every day. It’s hard.

She is not perfect, I am not perfect, no one is. Perfection does not exist. She Is going to make mistakes & learn from them, she is going to make bad choices & learn from them, she is going to hurt peoples’ feelings & learn from it. I still am. She is going to do what she thinks is right, because she is morally strong & stands her stubborn ground, just like I did. She is learning about friendships & how hard they can be. And If she calls you her true friend, she will protect you and love you fiercely. I admire this about her.

She is so smart & messy, kind & clumsy, loud & she is so funny…her laugh is contagious. Dance is her first love. She is competitive and hates to lose. She is a good listener when she respects you…She is afraid of nothing & everything. When she loves something she works hard at it. She knows what she wants & doesn’t care if you like it or not. She is beautiful inside & out. She is good, she is so good & God I love her. She is mine, that is for sure & I know she will always be ok. She will never let herself not be & I will always be so proud of her, always.

Happy 12th birthday to the only girl who challenges me & can win. You, my sweet girl, are everything I dreamed about! I love you! 💕
