Let’s talk about ovens and cleaning.
This may not be something most think about when it comes to home bakers and bakery’s but it’s definitely on the top of our lists!
I have never cleaned my oven so much as I have in the last 2 year of using it. And it’s a job! I have learned over the years what works and what doesn’t. And I can tell you, unless your oven is pretty much spotless, vinegar, lemon and baking soda does not cut it. But the stinky smell and chemically burn of Easy-Off also doesn’t cut it. That one leaves a dull residue and is just messy🤮
Recently I decided it was time to invest in another oven, giving me 3 and 1/2 ovens to bake in which will cut my baking days down from 12hr to hopefully 6 or less!
While the one I landed on may not have been brand spanking new, it will do the job just like it’s shiny new counterparts. But this one needed a little extra love. And you guys. I’m telling you it took me 4hrs to get almost all the way done but it looks like new! All I need to do it finish cleaning the racks, change the gaskets and clean between the 2 windows.
What I used might also turn some noses because it’s not “natural” but it got the job done, with less mess, no smell, I didn’t have to turn the oven on and it was pretty much wiping away years of grime pretty quickly. If you ever need a good deep clean oven cleaner, Goo Gone for ovens and grills is a must!
I am so excited to start adding this gem of an oven into my baking rotation once it’s fully cleaned and been tested.
Thought I would share something other than baking bread and goodies because running a home bakery require more than just baking. There is so much more behind the scenes, sometimes things that are far less glamorous and require some back breaking work and I just don’t talk about it enough!
So here’s a little “behind the scenes” of Field to Flour today. Now it’s off to a volleyball game. Tomorrow is prep day for the craft fair this weekend!
Happy Tuesday!
