🍯 🎂
Life’s been a bit chaotic lately, so I’ve mostly been making easy drop cookies. But this past weekend, I wanted a challenge so I attempted something I’ve long wanted to: the Russian honey cake. Overall, not as challenging as I thought and the flavor isn’t overly honey-y even with 1.5 cups of honey! Half the honey is burnt so it has a complex subtle flavor. What’s your next challenge? Xoxo

Still bubblin, still baking. Hope y’all’re well xoxo ❤️

Hi! It’s been a while. I bought a house, so baking has been on the back burner for a bit while we moved. These are my first loaves in the new oven — the first of many 😊 of course, the oven broke toward the end of bake (big rattling noise 😒) but that’s homeownership, right?
Happy baking y’all xoxo

Palyanitsa 🇺🇦
I’ve read that Ukrainians are using the word palyanitsa — a type of Ukrainian bread with a characteristic semicircle score — as a shibboleth word, or cultural identifier, as Russians cannot pronounce it correctly. So here’s my palyanitsa, a loaf of solidarity. ✊🏼

vol. 2 🥵
Splitting a batch into 4 molds did the trick! Much prettier shape, and the crumb is more open with a longer proof. 😍Maybe next time I’ll stretch it to 5 molds and see how far I can push the structure 🤔

This is batch one from a few weeks ago. I’ve got batch two going today, and will be splitting into 4 molds instead of 3 to avoid spillover like last time. Panettone is an endless learning experience!

🥧 #️⃣1️⃣: 🍎
Classic apple. In the freezer for next weekend. We’ll see how it looks post bake. I might add some turbinado sugar to the top. Braid was made from scraps, so the ends are a little messy. I could cover it with a cute leaf🍁 …or maybe I’ll just bake and eat the thing. Happy pie week y’all 😉

On a pasta-kick lately, obvi. Soon, it’ll be pie, then panettone 👨🏻‍🍳

🎃 🍞
November is here, and the pumpkin bakes continue. The best part of my pumpkin bread recipe — it uses the whole can of pumpkin. No more sad 1/3 cup of pumpkin purée sitting in your fridge until you dejectedly throw it away. Recipe @ alexwillisbakes.com
