✨kind of a long post 😬 sorry
Hey everybody. I’ve been MIA for a bit on here, life has been busy and I’ve just been posting more on my regular page. I’m still at it though!
Just wanted to kind of introduce myself for those that have just stumbled across my page without really knowing who is in the kitchen.
My name is Katie, married for going on 15 years and we have 3 kids. We live in London, I was born and raised right here and I’ve been in the same place I’ve been my whole life.
Baking and cooking has always been something I enjoyed and the kids love doing it too. My mamaw was the best cook and made some of the best desserts and I like to think that I got my love of it from her. I just only ever done it at home and never thought about pushing for anything more.
To sum it up without writing a book- over the last year and a half we have found out that Judd (dealt with GI issues his whole life) had a list of food allergies: Beef, Pork, Soy, Milk Protein, Dairy and Blueberries some of this coming from Alpha Gal. Grady has dealt with what we thought were just seasonal allergies for a long time but the last 6m-year or so it got worse. He does have outdoor allergies but also Alpha Gal and is allergic to chicken.
If dairy ain’t in something I can about guarantee that some type of soy is in it. From foods to medicines it’s in everything so what else was I going to do when I can’t just walk into stores and buy food or snacks easily. I decided to start making my own and that’s why we’re here now.
Eating out is hard, grocery shopping is hard, food allergies are usually not easy to deal with. We have to read, think and plan for food for everything.
It’s a nightmare to say the least but we’re figuring it out a little at a time. Now I’m a SAHM and I’m baking and cooking all the time because it’s better for our kids and safer for them.
I know this is a long post but I said all of this to kind of tell our story and how I got to where I am and why.
Breads, rolls, cinnamon rolls, brownies, sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, banana bread loaves & muffins, mini muffins, grape jelly, apple butter, chocolate syrup and more is just a few things that I’m keeping in rotation right now.
I figured I’m in the kitchen all the time anyways and if I can’t go to work because it’s not easy when we have 3 kids and doctors appointments all the time I might as well do what I’m enjoying and also help contribute to my little family financially as well. I appreciate all of you so much and I hope to meet more of you and hear from you soon ❤️
***everything can be made dairy free upon request and it’s soy free as well. Hopefully I’ll be adding more goodies & treats before long 😊
