In Cartago, Costa Rica!

09/15/2026

I have no words. These past few weeks have completely blown my mind. I feel honored to have the opportunity to learn about and experience firsthand the beautiful culture and history that Costa Rica has to offer.
A few years ago, our GA DYD said something that has stayed with me all these years: We have to be INTENTIONAL with our children and youth. And I believe that applies to everyone and everything we do.

I want to be intentional about learning about a new country, a new culture, a new language, and new people whom I’ve grown to admire and appreciate so deeply.

Throughout the New Testament, we see Jesus being intentional in the way He loved and cared for the sick, the lost, the poor, the widow, and the immigrant. His actions were never accidental. He saw people, met them where they were, and loved them intentionally.

I continually pray that I will become more intentional with how I love, how I serve, how I learn, and how I see the people God places in my life.

Hey Lincoln County folks! Please keep a lookout for this young gentleman! Contact the Sheriff’s office if you spot him!

Help the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office locate Salem Mitchell Carpenter. He is 14 years of age, 5’7”, 143 lbs, and blonde hair. He was last seen at 11:00 am today on Ashmore Barden road heading towards Augusta Highway. If you see Salem, please call the Sheriff’s Office. Thanks for your assistance.

We are counting down the days!! Now the waiting game. We will accept any amount. God has called me to reach the One. It was spoken over me and I am hanging onto that. Costa Rica for language school, then to Paraguay for our missions!
Friends and family, I would love for this to be shared.

Yesterday marked the closing of a chapter of our lives in Lincolnton. The picture here represents pieces of 21+ years of marriage, raising five children, and serving in many ministries. It was not easy to sort through so many memories and decide what we could take with us—it has been an emotional process for our whole family.

In the weeks leading up to this moment, Zechariah often asked, “Why do we have to go to Paraguay?” I would gently tell him, “We believe this is where God is leading our family.” In his childlike honesty, he asked, “Why didn’t God tell me?” That opened the door for sweet conversations about learning to be still and listen for God’s voice. We’ve also reminded him that God has a purpose for his life too, even now.

At this point, we find ourselves in a season of waiting. Unsure if we will begin language school in May or September. We would be so grateful for your prayers during this time. These past two years of raising support and building a team of prayer partners have stretched our faith in many ways.

If you feel led, would you take a quiet moment to ask the Lord how He might have you be involved? We are still trusting God to provide about $1,000 in monthly support. With May 6th approaching quickly, we are hopeful to be able to arrive in Costa Rica for language school.

If the Lord places it on your heart, we would be thankful for your consideration in joining our monthly support team—whether that is $10 a month or whatever He leads you to give.

To those who are already supporting and praying for us, thank you. Your generosity and faithfulness have encouraged us more than we can fully express. We are truly grateful.
