September’s charity looks a little different. 🤍
Since opening Good Day Dough Co., every month we’ve focused our giving close to home — supporting local families, organizations and causes within our community.
This month, our reach is going a little farther.
For September, we’ll be raising funds for Just One , a 501c3 charity, based in Cambodia, that is incredibly personal to me.
I serve on the board of Just One, travel to Cambodia twice a year, and one of my closest friends spends six months of the year teaching there.
Over time, the people have become so much more than people we visit — they’ve become family, friends, and a community that means more to us than I could ever explain in one post.
This will likely be the only month our charity isn’t local, but rather one that is simply, very close to my heart.
This month, the funds we raise will help provide bicycles and educational materials for our classroom.
For many of the children, a bicycle isn’t recreational.
It’s their sole means of transportation.
Their families don’t have cars. There are no school buses coming down the road each morning.
For many of these kids, their bicycle is the only way they can get to school & if it breaks, they walk. Sometimes miles.
Or, they double up on a friend’s bike (or even triple up!).
It’s not an uncommon site to see 2-3 students roll up to class on ONE bike!
Having a safe, working bike, can quite literally determine whether a child (and their siblings) are able to get an education.
We’ll also be helping purchase supplies and educational materials for the classroom so the teachers and students have the tools they need to learn.
As always, 100% of the proceeds from our Classic Boules this month will go directly toward this cause, in addition to our raffle.
What I love most about this bakery is that something as simple as buying a loaf of bread, can turn into something so much bigger…and stretch across the world when it needs to.
This month, it might help put a child on a bike.
It might help fill a classroom with supplies.
And it might help a child get to school. 🤍
