She is the root branch of our family. She has showered us with her love and generosity. She is my biggest fan. She taught us the meaning of family. She has suffered a fatal aneurysm, now we have to say goodbye.
Thank you Judy. Thank you Grandma. I wish I had said it more often.
We are sorry to tell you that we are closing down our operation. After 3 wonderful years, we have decided to pursue other passions and accept an opportunity to live and work in Porto Vecchio, Corsica (where I spent many great summers).
While our commitment to organic food and ingredients will never change, we will dearly miss all of our friends and familiar faces. Loudoun has an amazing community of people committed to the best agricultural practices and has some of the richest soil anywhere.
We miss you already and wish you the best April 1st and upcoming Easter holidays. 💟☮️✝️✡️🛐☯️
We have been closed waiting on permits in our new space but we are building back better and stronger and will see you this weekend with bread! 💪 💕 🥳
We are growing, yay! We are also changing and evolving...while sourdough has been a staple (and a pure joy), there are only so many projects we have hands for.
We will continue making some of our enriched sourdoughs (you can always special order old favorites), and we will have new capacity for hummus, dips, pasta and raviolis!
Many of our customers have met Cian (Cian-is-believing) who is expanding his mushroom lab, and needs more space. He has an exciting partnership announcement of his own coming soon!
So we will continue seeing you all at the Markets, and the Natural Mercantile, and we’ll get to add more locations and delivery options in the coming months.
Stay tuned and thanks for being a part!
Yay, the sun will be out! Hoping you will be, too...

Mushrooms are super-foods and sourdough bread is gut friendly.
We’ll have plenty of both this weekend!
Everything we make comes from the heart 💕

We’ll have several faves including 🍫🍒, 🧄🌿 and 🧀
You can also stop by the Natural Mercantile tomorrow and stock up for the weekend!
Did you know that many (if not most) commercial bakers use 1-2% yeast in their sourdough? Why? It allows them to speed up the process of fermentation and gives bigger holes to their bread. It can shorten production times by 12-16 hours.
All yeast brands made in the USA are preserved with sorbitol monostearate, a synthetic wax emulsifier; that may be what’s behind gluten intolerance, especially when combined with sprayed and GMO wheat.
We are unique because all our breads are made from one of two aged sourdough cultures, and our enriched doughs, like Brioche and Pan Cubano, are made with sorbitol monostearate FREE organic yeast.
Our wheat 🌾 is organic, mostly locally sourced and hand milled, and never sprayed, bleached or bromated. It’s also why people say they don’t get a stomach ache or allergies after eating our bread. Others don’t care but they notice our bread has a better keeping quality.
Whatever your reasons, taste and/or health, we’ve got your back!
Bread schedule this weekend:
Deli Rye are stocked and waiting today!!
We will not be at the Farmers Market this weekend but we’ll be back next Saturday with Michiganders (🍫🍒), Appalachian Sweet Rise, and Cheese Bread!
Seeded sourdough, for us starts with a rye starter and a flax seed soaker, and finishes with toasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds...
Stop by tomorrow and try one!
Deli rye...I love making this bread. It’s easy to pair with cheese, like Grey Ghost from , and is perfect with our Baba Ganouj. It’s also lovely with kraut and pickles, and likes it. I’ve just talked myself into a sandwich!
Available and coming soon to
Tomorrow morning we will have:
Hall’s Whole Grain
Classic French Boules
It’s supposed to be windy, so we won’t be under our tent, but Liv’s got hand warmers, so come out and say hi 🙋🏻
