Taste Flight stop: Algeria 🇩🇿✈️

When we started researching Algerian cuisine for Taste Flight, there was one ingredient we knew had to make the lineup: couscous.

Couscous is an Algerian staple and the national dish of Algeria. It is deeply rooted in the region’s history, with roots tracing back to the indigenous Amazigh (Berber) populations of ancient Numidia (present-day Algeria).

Our Vegetable Couscous features mushrooms, onions, carrots, raisins, garlic, cumin, and fresh cilantro. Light and fluffy, it carries warm, savory flavors in every bite and makes the perfect side for dinner.

The funds were raised through sales of Italian Gardens Tomato Sauce, made from the recipe of the iconic Kansas City restaurant that served our community for more than 100 years.

While the restaurant has closed its doors, its flavor—and legacy—live on.
