Why Aitkin?

I get asked quite often on why I drive 3 hours one-way to Aitkin for a farmer’s market and here are just a couple reasons.

We have a place just south of Aitkin, so we really enjoy the area. My husband’s love of fishing is what initially drew us there.

But one of my favorite things about coming to the Aitkin Farmers Market is the people and the energy. I’ve met so many wonderful people and absolutely love the atmosphere of the market.

The beautiful area, the lakes, the people, the customers, and the friendships I’ve made all make those 3 hours worth it.

So, that’s why you’ll continue to see me making the trip north! 😊

Sneak peek into preparation:

The alarm went off at 4 AM this morning, and the first job of the day was shaping sourdough!

These are just some of the loaves getting ready for this week’s markets. There are lots more steps between this table and the market table, but this is where it all starts.

I’ve got a big baking week ahead, but I can’t wait to fill my tables with fresh sourdough, scones, cookies, English muffins and pizza crusts!
