When you're wired for momentum, standing still can feel surprisingly uncomfortable.
If you're a high-energy, high-performing person and you've been feeling a little "off" lately, this post is for you. A few months ago, I found myself in one of those periods where my motivation dipped. Not dramatically. I was still working, still showing up, still getting things done. But the spark wasn't there.
As someone who thrives on momentum, creating, producing, teaching, and connecting with people, I started wondering, "What's wrong with me?"
After doing some research, I discovered something interesting.
Many high-energy people derive a sense of purpose and fulfillment from movement. We feel most alive when we're building something, solving problems, helping others, learning, growing, and engaging with life.
So when motivation drops, it isn't necessarily laziness, boredom, or a lack of drive. Sometimes it's simply a signal that...
* you've been pushing hard.
* you need something new to stimulate your mind.
* you've been giving a lot of energy and haven't replenished it.
* your spirit needs a mini spark.
I've learned that during these periods, I don't need a complete life overhaul. I need one small action that reignites my energy. For me, that might be:
• Going to the gym
• Calling a friend
• Starting a new project
• Planning something exciting
• Getting outside in the sunshine
• Having a meaningful conversation
The key is not waiting for motivation to magically return. It's creating conditions where it can return. If you're a naturally driven person experiencing a low-energy season, don't immediately assume something is wrong with you. You may simply need a spark.
What helps reignite your energy when you find yourself in a slump?
