Hola mi Gente! My Name is Lorraine, here in Las Vegas, Nevada and I'd like to welcome you to Mi Cocina Boricua ( My Puerto Rican Kitchen) I built this page, so that I could share a few traditional recipes de La Isla del Encanto ( The island of enchantment ). I have been cooking, for many years, and throughout those years, I have collected, and even created my own recipes, my inspiration is my family & friends, cooking for my loves; with love. I also prepare Pasteles. They are a traditional dish in several Latin American countries. In Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean coast of Colombia, and Panama, it is similar to a tamale. In Other Spanish-speaking countries, pastel means pastry. In Hawaii, they are called pateles, It is the Boricuas (Puerto Ricans) tradition to make them a month or two before Christmas time. Just to give my guest in "Mi Cocina Boricua" a bit of that history.
