🩷 **Meet my “influencer” — my Grandma Rane.** 🩷
Long before cinnamon rolls were going viral on social media, before giant cinnamon rolls covered in frosting were all over my feed, and long before **Sugar & Swirl Bakehouse** or ** Sweets & Treats by Katie** existed… there was Grandma Rane. 🥹
Some of my favorite childhood memories are in the kitchen baking cinnamon rolls with my grandma. And on Christmas morning, my mom, my cousins and I would sit in front of the heater eating Grandma’s warm cinnamon rolls. 🎄🍥
I had no idea back then just how important those cinnamon rolls would become to me.
Fast forward to **2021**. I broke my right wrist badly enough that I needed surgery, with a plate and screws placed in my arm. During physical therapy, my therapists encouraged me to get back into the kitchen and make my cinnamon rolls as a way to work on rebuilding the strength and movement in my hand and wrist.
So I did. ❤️
And then something funny happened… **my physical therapists fell in love with them.** 😂
Then I started sharing them with friends and neighbors. They loved them too, and people kept telling me, *“You need to sell these!”*
That little push eventually helped give me the courage to start my bakery.
Over the years, I’ve taken Grandma Rane’s cinnamon rolls and put my own spin on them, combining the recipe and memories I grew up with with my fluffy **milk bun dough**. And that’s how the cinnamon roll that is now the heart of Sugar & Swirl was born. 🍥
So when I call them **Grandma Rane’s cinnamon rolls**, it isn't a marketing story. It’s *my* story.
They remind me of Christmas mornings.
They remind me of my mom and cousins.
They remind me of baking beside my grandma.
They helped me heal my wrist.
And ultimately, **they helped start my bakery.** 🥹🩷
There may be plenty of cinnamon roll “influencers” out there now…but this is mine.

And I think she’d get a kick out of knowing that all these years later, people are still enjoying a version of the cinnamon rolls we used to make together. 🥹🍥
