Big news from the Crumb Theory kitchen!

We have had such a huge influx of customers lately that I have made a change to how I bake.

My oven is only 19 inches wide, which means I could only fit one Dutch oven loaf at a time. To keep up with demand, I have switched to using 9x5 loaf pans so I can bake more than one loaf at once.

The loaf will look a little different in shape, smaller and more traditional looking, but I promise it is the exact same weight as the Dutch oven loaves. Same great taste, same light and airy crumb. Literally nothing is changing except the shape.

If you would rather have your loaf baked in the Dutch oven the classic way, just let me know when you place your order and I will make that happen for you.

Thank you all so much for the love and support, it is what keeps this little home bakery going.

I make tortillas for $5. No preservatives. Just flour, lard, baking powder, salt, and water.

Just a heads up, friends! The kitchen will be closed from July 17th to August 1st.

If you have any sourdough needs while I'm out, try The Sassy Wisk. You can find them on Facebook. If not, I’ll see all of your beautiful faces when I get back!

People often ask me how I find the time for college, my leadership role, my marketing business, my bakery, keeping the house running, raising my kids, and, not to mention, the absolutely astronomical number of doctors' appointments I have in a month. Here is the honest answer: I don’t find the time. There isn’t extra time hiding somewhere waiting to be found. Instead, I make it all happen at once, stacked right on top of each other.

Case in point, these photos. That’s my Qualitative Analysis class playing on one screen while I work on AMA WGU design projects on the other, and if you look closely, there’s a tortilla cooking right there in the same shot. That’s not staged. That’s just a normal weekday for me.

I even turned my study sources into a podcast so I can listen while I’m driving to appointments and again while I’m sitting in waiting rooms, because those hours were going to pass either way, and I’d rather they count for something.

I’m not telling you this to brag. I’m telling you this because I know a lot of you are doing the same thing, juggling school, work, family, and health all at once, and wondering if you’re the only one barely holding it together. You’re not. This is what it actually looks like behind the scenes, tortillas and all.

And if you have children, what they see matters more than we realize. They see how hard you work to provide for them, to hold a 3.5 GPA, to keep pushing even when there aren’t enough hours in the day. It shows them what hard work actually looks like and that you make the hours count instead of waiting for more to show up. And in return, they become the best little cheerleaders you could ever ask for.
