As and I sit in an ever increasingly stressful and frustrating space while we wait for answers and the ability to assess the damage at our mill shop after the fire, the bakery keeps going... We'll keep milling Vermont grains, building our sourdough, baking and delivering bread to all the usual spots.
Warm bread on the shelves tomorrow.

We are completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of kind words and support received since the fire. We have the most incredible community and it means so much during this crazy time.

Our dear friends from have started a GoFundMe in our name to help support our incredible crew as we work through all of the unknowns associated with insurance and rebuilding. You can find the link in our stories and bio.

We cannot give enough thanks to all of the farmers, millers, bakers, bread eaters and community members near and far for their understanding and support while we sort through the aftermath of the fire and begin the process of rebuilding.

Hopefully we will have some updates to share very soon, but until then you have our utmost thanks and gratitude.

Our friends at the are hiring! The Elmore Store is one of my favorite collaborators and places in the world. It sits on the shores of Lake Elmore, below the Mountain that is our namesake. Tim and Becca Lindenmeyr have been renovating the store and are ushering this treasured 200 year old building into a new era. As the store prepares to re-open this summer, they are looking to hire someone to spearhead their new food program. Think historic general store and cafe (just a few miles from the bakery) in an insanely special small town on a beautiful lake with endless access to all of incredible food that our agricultural state produces… This is an extraordinary opportunity for the right person. Mark your calendars, CAE will be selling an all local burger meal at the Hardwick Farmers Market starting Friday, May 30! Stop by the CAE tent for a meal featuring a local burger (on a bun made with local grain), and local slaw and roasted potatoes prepared by CAE’s Just Cut team.

Just Cut purchases locally grown vegetables and prepares a line of ready-to-use products for K-12 schools, hospitals, and colleges throughout Vermont and just over the border in New Hampshire.
