All Black girls.
04/22/2021

All Black girls.

Protect Black girls.
All Black girls.
Protect hood Black girls.
Protect wrong Black girls.
Protect afraid, abused, traumatized Black girls.
Protect Black girls with skin like ebony.
Protect Black girls with hair that reaches towards the sky and grows out instead of down.
Protect Black girls who’s last moments aren’t docile, begging her killer not to steal her life.
Protect Black girls who knows that we all we got, who have been betrayed by “love” so much that we know we have to go down fighting.
Protect Black Girls. Period. Not just when it’s convenient or we fit into a box of what you think being worthy of protection means.

Please stop posting the body cam footage of Ma’khia Bryant’s murder.

Please stop circulating the video of Columbus police officers yelling, “Blue Lives Matter” at the scene of the crime.

Please stop telling girls that self-defense is an option available to them when it’s not available for Black girls.

Please stop pretending it isn’t possible for police to apprehend someone with a weapon instead of killing them when they do it all the time for white male mass shooters.

Please stop the narrative that police protect and serve when many are ill-prepared, escalate rather than deescalate, and have a shoot first mentality because they are either scared of Black people or see them as the enemy.

Reporters, please stop writing that she was a “woman” when she was SIXTEEN YEARS OLD. Labeling Black kids and teens as adults is harmful and continues the narrative they are not to be protected, but are a threat.

All we wanted yesterday was a moment. ONE moment. And the fact that despite indisputable evidence, we were still uncertain that Derek Chauvin was going to be found guilty of murdering George Floyd is heartbreaking. So for Ma’Khia to be killed by police mere hours before the verdict is proof that this is what the system was designed to do.

All we want everyday is for Black people to not be murdered by the police.

All we want is for not one more Black person to become a hashtag.

All we want until the end of time is for the police to not kill Black and brown children.

Yet here we are. . Say her name.

💜New product alert!💜 I'm so excited to offer this new downloadable just in time for Valentine's Day. What I Love About You Hearts are a great way to lift up someone special in your life.

The idea is to print the four pages out on whatever paper you have on hand. I picked pink and purple cardstock to show my little valentine some love since these are her favorite colors. On day one, tape the main What I Love About You heart and one positive affirmation heart to your little one's door. Then keep adding one every day until you make it to Valentine's Day.

I included 28 different affirmations so you can find the ones that really fit your little one's personality. I thought having these extra ones would also be helpful if you have more than one child.

Head over to my etsy store (www.etsy.com/shop/lifemeetspaper) now to download! Take a picture and tag me so I can see these in action.

It’s definitely been a hot minute since I’ve posted. Even before life got crazy with this whole pandemic thing, life was still crazy. As you might remember if you followed my story before, I was a stay at home mama doing graphic design while hanging out with my daughter. Long story short, the husband unexpectedly lost his job, and I ended up with a full-time gig doing marketing and communications for an engineering school at our local university. I love it, but I miss the creativity that my small shop brings me so it’s time to jump back in.

A little bit about me and my life…my baby isn’t such a baby anymore. She turned 4 in August and is full of sass and s***k. She keeps me on my toes and makes me laugh. My husband decided to return to college where he is pursuing a second bachelor’s degree full-time. He will hopefully be finishing up this time next year.

We’ve lived in Lafayette for over ten years now and love it. This town has so much to offer, and we’ve met so many great people.

I still love to create fun pieces for your life whether it is a notecard, a birthday invitation, or a print for your child’s room. I offer both digital files as well as finished printed pieces. Need a logo or specialty design created? Let’s chat!

Days 13 & 14 (still playing catch up) - In the audiobook I'm currently listening to (Two Can Keep A Secret -- sooooo good! is a genius), one of the main characters references this quote from and it made me remember how much I love that movie.
Have you read Becoming by yet? If you haven't, I also highly recommend it. I loved the way she described what becoming meant to her towards the end of the book.
Are you a reader? What's in your right now?

Day 12 (for real) - So I realized the other day that I can't count and missed a number in my labeling of my prints. Oops! We'll just blame that on . Anyway, I'm a little behind with the project at the moment, but I am hoping to catch up over the next few days. My husband has had a pretty cool cactus collection over the years, and they are so interesting to look at in terms of all the different shapes they seem to take on. I thought this was a fun, modern take on a cactus print.

Day 12 - Right???? I feel like this has been the laziest weekend ever. My house thinks this was a poor decision. Thankfully we don't have anyone coming over for Easter...phew! What's your favorite Sunday activity?

Days 11 & 12 - sweet, fierce, and kind. These are some of the characteristics that I hope my little girl personifies as she continues to grow. Right now I just would like her to stop telling me no.

Day 10 - C is for cookie....I mean cat! Happy to the snuggliest cat around. I've been wanting to make this kitty cat C for the longest time and have just never done it. I am so excited to have to thank for pushing me to finally make it. Can't have a pet holiday without a 📸 of our cat, Daisy.

Day 9 - did you know that today was ? The library I used to work at has a bookmobile staffed by the absolute best people. They were the inspiration behind today's print. I couldn't decide if my book spines needed titles or not, so you get to see both! I thought this could be a fun piece to customize with favorite books for the reader in your life.
