D's European Delights

Thank you, everyone, for supporting D’s European Delights for the past couple of years. It was so much fun rediscovering my grandmother’s recipes, concocting a few of my own, and celebrating birthdays, weddings, and holidays with you.

But now it’s time for other adventures, so I’ve decided to close D's European Delights. I’ll miss baking for you and decorating pastry boxes with silly, colorful designs.

Stay safe (and sane) and remember: there isn’t much that a good dessert can’t fix.

I’m back after a couple of weeks in Houston, and decided to bake a few things just for fun. A few “watercolor” cookies (I tried the matte version - next time I’ll make them glossy), gluten free blueberry scones, and - my favorite - gluten free almond peanut butter cookies sweetened with maple syrup and honey.

I hope 2022 will be kinder to all of us!

Remember the Saint Streets Stroll on October 2 (starting at 4pm) when you can sample some of D's European Delights desserts? Well, we were asked to decorate the outside of our homes for the event, so I made posters and some giant flowers. 😁

For today’s order - a new dessert: mini Danish pastries with homemade blueberry jam and fresh blueberries, and the always alluring Greta Garbo, a dessert consisting of delicate pastry layers with raspberry, blueberry, and orange marmalade and walnut filling, topped with chocolate ganache and dried cherries.

For today’s order: June macarons with happy, festive colors. I had much fun making the little leaves and flowers, but didn’t manage to photograph the yellow macarons with pink flowers or the (even more festive) packaging. It was one of those days...

New filling: orange cream with a touch of sweet orange marmalade. It’s amazing! If a citrusy, summery, ridiculously expensive French perfume were a macaron filling, it would taste like that. Happy June!

With all the macaron making (new flavors coming soon!), I had to do something with the egg yolks. The result? A cross between pound cake and sponge, great with ice cream or champagne.

Hello everybody!!! This took much longer than expected, but selling a house, packing, renting a house, and unpacking apparently takes time... 😁

Still, D's European Delights is back and taking orders! Take a look at the menu (which is the first post on this page) - perhaps you’ll find something you like.

For now, here are today’s creations: abstract art macarons, lemon hearts, and a new dessert: lemon sponge cake bites with cream cheese and blueberry jam filling.

Hello everyone, it’s been a while. D’s European Delights is moving - which is to say I’m moving, selling the house, finding a new place to live, so the kitchen is closed for now, but when it opens again, there will be plenty of lovely desserts for you to choose from. Wish me luck and see you soon!
