I've always wanted to do an illusion cake and my friends' joint birthday brunch was a great opportunity to crack my knuckles and grease up the elbows! A simple homemade funfetti cake with vanilla buttercream and homemade strawberry jam turned into a stacked pile of golden pancakes, complete with edible strawberries, pats of butter and maple syrup to complete the look!

There's always room for growth, to challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone, and do what seems impossible or difficult to believe.

Congrats to my dear friends who are expecting their bundle of mischief arriving soon! As a FTM with little time and bandwidth these days, I always am thankful for the chance to dust off the mixer and stretch my creative muscles!

Each holiday season is unique in the memory we create for the year, and I always love pushing myself to see what more I have inside. This year with a little babe of my own, I've scaled back to be realistic of my time and energy but am so thankful to explore again. Gingerbread cookies have been a nostalgic favorite, and I've always been drawn to the uniqueness and detail of laced royal icing. Love, care, and patience poured into each one. May this season bring you comfort and joy 🎄❄☃️❤👨‍👩‍👧

I don't think I was ever able to stay away from baking for long anyway 😛 I I miss the time and freedom I had to enjoy big complex projects, but I wouldn't trade time with my baby for anything. Layers of chocolate genoise, hazelnut dacquoise, yuzu curd, chocolate hazelnut ganache, hojicha mousse and Chantilly cream, garnished with mirror glaze,, edible gold, roasted hazelnuts, and chocolate fuillette!
