For the past 25 years, September has held a profound, and unintended, significance for both the nation and Her citizens.

Today, we honor those who confronted the crisis, those who lost their lives in the tragedy, those who provided support, those who assisted throughout the recovery—including service animals—and those whose lives continue to be lost 25 years later due to related toxic exposure.

The gravity of these events remains firmly in our collective memory. I will never forget.
