Pressure canned green beans, yes the video is long. But, a lot of people usually have questions about using a pressure canner. There are many people who have canned for years and never used one.
Green beans are the very first thing I learned to can and was just telling my mom this story as we were prepping these beans. My husbands grandma taught me how to can a lot of things. The first time I used a pressure canner was at her house and we did green beans. We had crates of green beans, they had to be like 25 lbs and we trimmed them for what seemed like forever! But there is something about home canned food that just hits differently!! It tastes completely different than canned food from the store. I am so proud of all the foods I provide for my family because I learned how to do the art of canning!
**something that got cut off in the video, when you turn off your heat before you release the remaining steam by removing the weight, you need to let the pressure gauge come down to 0**
**green beans pressure canning times:
-pints: 20 mins
-quarts: 25 mins
Please ask any questuons, any concerns, anything I can help with. I think it is so important that people learn to make and store their own foods.
And a little note from a girl with no living grandparents. Take the time to listen to their stories and learn things they want to teach you. You are going to miss them when they are gone and there is so much they can teach you while they are around 🥰
