I dont know if you can see them well. But in all the craziness yesterday, we were able to get our 80 meat birds. These will be raised on all organic feed and we will not be butchering them all this year. The hope and dream is to supply our own meat birds ourselves from here on out. We are super excited and blessed for this new journey! I did not do cornish cross as I was personally not a huge fan of the toughness of their meat. We opted for a freedom ranger, they grow as a normal chicken would and These are butchered out later than a CC so instead of 6 to 8 weeks, These are 12 to 16 weeks. Longer growing time, bigger bird, and as I have researched the meat is much more tender and delicate.
We're taking this little journey one small step at a time, however this year seems like we jumbled it all into one month 🫣🤣 but yay for growth!!
Next year we will begin offering meat birds to customers. All organically fed. Once they're ready, customers will be able to pick up and pay for their birds. Then customers will take their birds to the butcher of their choice. We are super excited for this. We will do birds in waves, so we will require pre ordering so we know how many to.
