Well we did a thing today. Only took roughly 4 hours. But we finally got ALL of the meat birds for the year done! Yay. We have 8 hens and 1 rooster we are keeping. To incubate and raise chicks next year, to do this all over again! So excited for a big part of our being self sufficient to be complete! My husband mentioned "this would be a good spot to raise pigs..." it is a pretty wooded spot, near the coop. He said it. So maybe a new goal for next year is raising organic pork too lol 😆 He said it out loud, in front of me. Sooooo..... organic chickens and pigs?! I think so! Happy Sunday!

Jimmy is back to her old peppy self after all this molting. I have done research and apparently birds can become very tired and do not like being touched during this process. Their bodies are using all the energy to grow new feathers, they can be itchy and sensitive to touch. But look how bright and white her news feathers are. I wish I started filming sooner because her run is priceless!! Just wait until she start dust bathing again...she will never look the same 🤣 we love our Jimmy girl!

Chocolate syrup 🤣 I was cracking up making this one lol

Imgredients:
3/4 c cocoa powder
1 1/2 c sugar
1 1/2 c water
Dash salt (do 2 dashes!)
Vanilla- measure with your heart

Walking past the slide doing chicken chores and head some shuffling around and sliding... low and behold 2 chickens in the slide and theyre laying eggs in there. My father in law helped me slide these two out and they appeared to be stunned for a hot min (they looked dead 🫪). I quickly grabbed them and put them in for the night. But good gravy the birds and this slide.

As all things bread continues, I bring you Zucchini Bread! When I say this is another frequent request at the house... I am not lying. My kids love zucchini bread! You could add chocolate chips to this if desired but it is perfect as is!!

Jimmy mottled over the Summer and all her new feathers are coming in. She is so bright and fluffy!!
