How to Dye Brown Eggs (Food Coloring Method)
• Prepare:
Mix 1/2 cup boiling water, 1 teaspoon vinegar, and 10–20 drops of food coloring in a cup.
• Dye:
Submerge hard-boiled brown eggs in the dye-bath.
• Time:
Let them sit for at least 10–15 minutes. For deeper, more vibrant colors, leave them in the fridge for a few hours.
• Dry:
Place on a wire rack or paper towel to dry.
• Shiny Finish:
Once dry, rub the eggs with a small amount of vegetable oil to add a polished shine.
• Design:
Use white crayon before dyeing for a wax-resist design, or wrap with leaves and stockings for patterns.
• Colors to Avoid:
Red dye on brown eggs often turns maroon, while yellow dye results in a subtle, muted gold.
