Playing with deconstructed market leftovers.

I had the last bit of my favorite Maryland gin () last night and thought the bottle was too fun a shape to pass up. Seemed like the perfect vessel for these whimsy bright lights cosmos.

People sometimes ask what I do with market leftovers since they aren’t exactly shelf stable and sometimes I keep them and play with them for my own fun. Sometimes I trade with a neighbor for eggs. And often I break down the components for dried and pressed flowers so they don’t end up compost.

Bright lights cosmos are some of my favorite because they’re incredibly reliable producers and I love the pop of bright orange cheer.

We’ll be inside the Barn tomorrow from 9-3 with fresh mixed bouquets, pressed botanicals, bus vases, and a few dried flower wreaths. The buy local challenge may be over, but it’s always a good time to support your local farmers/businesses 🙌🏼

If you missed yesterday at The Barns at New Market we’ll have plenty more flowers this Monday at the Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission Buy Local Challenge Celebration 5-8 pm. We’ll have large and small mixed bouquets, pressed botanicals, dried flower wreaths, and some bud vase arrangements in case you’re looking for just a little treat 😉
