It’s been a minute since we’ve properly introduced ourselves, and with some changes coming to ash & ash noshery, it feels like a good time to do that.
So, hi!
We’re ash & ash noshery. We’re a family-run Jewish-American home-based noshery operating right here in Kearney, Nebraska. We specialize in challah, babka, bagels, cinnamon rolls, cookies, and nostalgic baked goods.
We’re big believers in scratch-made food, feeding people well, and making things that are worth getting excited about.
We’re also a little opinionated, a little unconventional, and definitely not here to be everybody’s cup of tea.
But if there’s one thing we want you to know about us, it’s that this noshery is about more than baking.
Mental health is a huge part of our story.
It’s personal.
It’s messy.
It’s something too many people are expected to suffer through quietly, but we decided - it’s time to heal out loud.
So sometimes we talk openly about mental illness because we believe people deserve to feel less alone in it. We believe asking for help should never be something to be ashamed of. And we believe access to mental health care shouldn’t depend on whether you can afford it.
That’s why we created the Therapy Access Fund, funded by our Lemon & Gold cookies fundraiser, which directs 100% of net proceeds toward overdue therapy bills in our Tri-City community.
We’re a noshery, yes. But if we can use what we’re building to help people get the care they need, we’re going to friggen do that, too.
OKAY. NOW FOR THE BAKED GOODS.
We’re making some changes around here, and we’re pretty excited about them.
Up until now, so much of our business has revolved around our weekly bake sales. And while we love those, we want to try something that gives you more opportunities to get your hands on our stuff throughout the week.
So here’s the plan: we’re moving toward multiple bake days a week, with one or two featured items available at a time. We’ll still have weekly bake sales for now, they’ll just be a little smaller.
Instead of everything happening on one Thursday, you’ll see different things dropping throughout the week. We’ll announce what’s baking, tell you how to order, and let you know when it’s available.

We’re still figuring out the rhythm, but the goal is simple: more fresh-baked goodness and more chances for you to support us without having to wait for the next weekly bake sale.
And yes, free local delivery is staying. Because we’re nice like that. And because sometimes leaving the house is a whole chore.
We’re growing, we’re experimenting, and we’re trying to build something sustainable that lets us do more of what we love. We’d rather bring you along for that process than pretend we have every single detail figured out already.
AND NOW, HERE’S WHERE YOU COME IN.
We’re trying to get ash & ash noshery in front of more people around Kearney. Not because we want to chase numbers for the sake of numbers, but because local businesses grow when actual people tell other actual people about them.
AND because we want more people to know that you can buy really good baked goods from a local Jewish-American noshery that gives a damn about its community.
