Many of you know Caren Green as the powerhouse singer, and that is accurate. However, Caren is also a devoted mother, educator, worship leader, and gifted music artist who has spent many years of her life pouring into us through her work in delivering babies, taking in children, singing beautiful songs, teaching, ministry, and art throughout New Orleans.
Now, it’s Caren who needs that same love and care poured back into her.
Caren is courageously battling multiple rare autoimmune diseases, including Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD), Diffuse Cutaneous Systemic Sclerosis (Scleroderma), Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), and Lupus (SLE). This aggressive condition affects her lungs, heart, skin, and gastrointestinal system and requires ongoing, intensive medical treatment.
Her current treatment schedule includes:
• Chemotherapy (Cytoxan) every 28 days (5–6 hour infusions)
• Rituxan every 6 months
• IVIG treatments for two consecutive days every 3 weeks
Despite the physical toll of these treatments, Caren is still working THREE jobs, even as her body and mind desperately need rest and healing.
This season requires more than medical care. It requires time, rest, and financial stability, and we want to help lighten that load for her.
Funds raised will help cover basic living expenses as she’s had to reduce her workload and transition toward disability, allowing her to focus on recovery without the constant stress of survival.
Caren has been navigating much of this journey on her own. A small group of us are working to surround her with care, community, and support—and we are asking for your help.
Please consider donating. No amount is too small. If you’re unable to give, sharing this fundraiser makes a meaningful difference.
Additional support, such as DoorDash gift cards or cleaning services, would also be invaluable during treatment and recovery.
Let’s be the village Caren has been to so many.
