There’s a new business in town!! We are so excited to welcome to Downtown Harrisonburg!

Harrisonburg’s first cidery is opening their doors to the public today at 4pm. Located in the old Big L tire buildings, experience a fun, welcoming, atmosphere, a delicious hand crafted cider, + all of the hard work that Zach + Amberlee Carlson put into bringing Sage Bird Cider Works to life.
Spend with Sagebird, Harrisonburg! Go give them the welcome that you know they deserve.

Magpie is a full-service breakfast and lunch restaurant serving a diner-inspired seasonal menu. They serve coffee brewed from beans roasted right next door at and honor the seasons and local food system in everything from their sandwiches to their cocktails. The in-house bakery turns out fresh breads and pastries.
I can vouch for the cinnamon swirl milk bread. A must have for the best French toast you’ll ever eat. 🤤

Magpie is a true community corner and all are welcome at the table!

While places are reopening + some things are beginning to feel “more normal,” we are still in the middle of a pandemic + your small business friends still need you.

Supporting small businesses doesn’t have to be expensive. Listed are some ways that you can continue supporting your favorite small businesses that are FREE to you! PLUS so many of the small businesses in our community are offering ways to still purchase their products + services safely.
Many have online shops + are continuing to offer curbside pick up, local delivery or shipping for those who aren’t yet comfortable venturing out. Check their social media accounts because those that don't have websites are offering social media shopping + even orders over the phone.
AND one of the best ways to support your community businesses is by purchasing a gift card NOW to use later.

Every little bit helps. This crisis is unchartered territory + we are adapting + changing as new information comes out but it is critical to do your part to help keep your favorite places to shop + dine afloat in these deep waters. If we all do a little, we can make a world of difference for the small businesses impacted by the coronavirus in our area.

Hi! I'm John, the guy behind the lens at J. Ellis Photography. 6 years ago a dream came true and I opened the J. Ellis Photography Studio on Court Square and have been so grateful for all the love and support I've received from the community over the years.

The photography industry as a whole has been surrounded with uncertainty for the past month. Everything from cancellations, postponements to the lack of government assistance for so-called "gig workers". Over the past few weeks we've seen the wedding industry come to a complete standstill which is a main source of income for many of your favorite photographers. It's also an industry that will take most of the year to get back on track.

All that being said, we're hanging in there! At J. Ellis Photography we're still offering single person portrait sessions and headshots, front yard family sessions, and gift cards for future use! As well as booking late 2020 and 2021 weddings! :)

Thanks again for all the support and sending good vibes! I encourage you to reach out to any of your favorite photographers and see if they're offering gift cards as well :)

During these uncertain times we are proud to continue serving our local community and supporting our local farmers and vendors. We have been making changes in store to keep you and our workers safe and healthy. We are now offering online or phone ordering and curbside pickup and limiting the number of customers we have in the store to promote social distancing. We really appreciate everyone who has been supporting us and the downtown community. We will get through this, together.
