We are 3 days from our celebration of life for Terry.
If anyone would like to contribute a dish, please contact me and let me know. Anything is fine, honestly!
When you contact me, we can arrange drop off time and location.

❤️To our differently sheltered friends, we will have tables and chairs so that folks can sit and fellowship together. But if you'd like, bring your camp chairs.

40 of these in several different sizes were donated, brand new, by someone who received them for a soccer team bearing the incorrect emblem! The company told him to donate them and he reached out and I met him on Saturday at the church. They are not bulky but very warm, according to some of the 25 people who received these on Sunday. Thank you, Anthony, for the blessing!

Thank you, Bethany Church of the Nazarene for your kitchen, Country Gourmet at the Market and Panera Bread for your food donations,
those who picked up donations, folks like Ashley, Jill, and Rachel and Safa who brought prepared food, and everyone who made donations this week.

We got a new 10x10 canopy. It poured at our second stop on Sunday. We learned something, that you have to get the tarp up right away and in the right direction or else you get a big bubble of water that lets loose and soaks you.

I spend several hours on Saturdays from 1:30 until about 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. shopping for the ingredients at several locations and going to the church and pulling ingredients and sometimes prepping food for the next day like chopping things or making sandwiches. I'm getting old and I need help! If anybody isn't available on Sunday and they're willing to come help on Saturday, please reach out!

Thank you to this week's volunteers: Jerry, Carol, Alex, Kathy, Sarah, Danielle, Marcy, Arleen, George, Tina, Bob, and Molly. It takes a lot of hands to row this boat and I'm thankful for each and every one. That includes our friends who we serve who show up at the back of the van when we're starting to unload and help us get the food on the tables!

Sing it with me!
I don't care who you are
Where you're from
What you did
As long as you volunteer!
Posting this volunteer check-in Friday a little early this week.

Saturday: I will be picking up the food donation from Country Gourmet at the Market at around 2:00. I will be at the church kitchen starting prep at probably around 3:00 or so and staying for several hours if anyone wants to join.

Sunday: I'll be going into the church at 10:00 ish instead of 11:00. The number of people we serve is growing and it's become increasingly more difficult to get it done in 3 hours! If you've been coming in at 11:00 and that's what you can do, perfect. We need to have all of the food out of the ovens and into the cambros and ready to go into the van by 1:45. Last week it was 2:30. That's why I'm going in early this week!

We serve at two locations starting at 2:30 and ending at about 5:30. Two of us then go to the VA housing to deliver food to some of our friends there.

We return to the church at about 5:45 or 6:00, unload the van, clean up all the pans and bowls and pots and things, clean up the kitchen, sweep and mop, take out the trash and recycling. The more people we have helping at this point, the earlier Mama gets to go home!

Who's coming this Sunday? We need a couple more servers and a couple more cleanup people. Please drop a comment or send me a message to let me know if you're coming!

Jerry
Danielle serving and cleanup
Emma prep
Carol prep
Alex and K prep
Arleen prep, possibly serving
Kathy and Sarah, if it rains
Marcy serving

We will be remembering our friend Terry Sunday October 18 at 2:30, on Cameron between Paxton and Sycamore under the interstate overpass, dedicating our meal in his memory and having a small service. Friends and family are invited and welcome to partake in the meal and the memorial.

Should anyone be interested in contributing a dish, please let me know. I will be at the church the day before from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. If you care to drop off then or from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Sunday the 18th. It can be anything you want. Your favorite casserole, a veggie dish, dessert. We serve about 130 people every week. We do not expect you to make enough food for 130 people. It's why we serve a variety of foods. Every casserole or dessert goes into the rotation!

So, this happened. Bob didn't break it. This was one of our 10x10 easy ups that we use when the weather is less than fun. I'm in the market for a 10x20 easy up canopy, if anyone has any brand recommendations. It's definitely worth the expense so that everyone is dry when it's pouring and to keep us cooler when it's 95° out and we're out there just standing on some hot asphalt for an hour...

Thank you, Bethany Church of the Nazarene for your kitchen, Country Gourmet at the Market and Panera Bread for your weekly food donations, and everyone who made donations of items or funds or their time.

Volunteers this week: Donna, Kaitie, Jerry, Bob, Savannah, Arleen, Aunt Ash, Kinsley, Emma, Mary, Marcy, Kelly, Ed, Molly, Sherry... Who did I overlook? I've developed a poor memory and my volunteer family has grown so much, I'm always afraid I'm going to forget someone.

Thank you, Donna, Mary, Rachel/Safa and Jill for bringing prepared food. What an enormous help that is!

Doing what I do has helped me grow so much in my faith. I was always someone who prayed in private. Over the past few months, I've been able to stand in the middle of a hundred people and pray out loud. I thank God for our friends, for everyone who comes out and lets us love on them, asking for blessings on the food to fill hungry bellies. I love pulling in every week and having folks meet me at the passenger door to help me out or hug me or say hello. All the hard work is worth it when we pull into the lot and see everyone waiting for us. We love serving alongside other outreaches and Ministries on Sunday as well, combining our efforts and sharing space.
