JUNK DRAWER TRANSFORMATION 🙌🏻

88% of Americans report having at least one designated junk drawer in their home. Do you? I know I do! 🙋🏽‍♀️

I keep a weekly to-do list in my home, and the junk drawer is at the top! I believe keeping in keeping the junk drawer junk FREE. Investing time in organizing junk drawers will save you TIME when you are looking for — sunglasses, keys to your P.O. Box, a working pen, a basic tool, or a command strip.

Here a few basic steps to take when organizing your junk drawer:
- Take everything out
- Organize by category and don’t be afraid to trash items
- Disinfect and put in containers/organizing dividers
- Place like items

There you go! I challenge you to tackle a junk drawer today!

Unpopular opinion: I LOVE Monday’s. I love a fresh start, the energy that comes from a restful weekend, and time to refocus.

For me productivity has to be mindful — here a few practices of mine to organize myself for a week:
- Create a list with two columns: one column is my “accomplishments” list where I reflect on my previous week to measure all I did, and I create a to-do list for the week.
- I keep the same morning routine Monday- Friday.
- Review my calendar and add to it if needed.
- Meal prep!
- Do all necessary chores and home sprucing.
- Organize any and all parts of my home / car that were neglected over my weekend.

What do you do to keep yourself on track each week?

Closet 👏🏻 Transformation 👏🏻
Having a clean and organized closet will save you time and stress!

Here are a few of the steps I follow when I organize a closet:
1. Take everything out — sort into categories based on type of item.
2. Be sure to have a donate + sale bin ready! That is the best way to declutter.
3. Clean the closet.
4. Organize the items in your closet by grouping like items, color, and seasonal pieces together. Giving each item a more permanent home.
PRO TIP: investing in bins with labels and matching clothes hangers give a closet a clean and sleek finish!

I frequently receive the question, “How is your business going?” Followed by, “Are there any ways I can help you?” First, I want to say THANK YOU — for your interest, support and encouragement.

YES! There are so many ways to support me that go beyond hiring me. Here are a few great ways to support me:
- Follow Chaos Cleaned social media accounts — follow, like, share with your friends + followers.
- Ask how the business is going!
- Tell your friends about my unique services, even if you are not located in the Upstate — my hope for instagram is to share helpful tips for anyone to have free access to.
- Refer me to a friend! DO NOT FORGET — for every referral you give that books you receive one FREE hour of my services!
- Purchase a gift certificate! This is great if you are not local to the Upstate but have friends + family who are, OR you are someone who may not benefit from my services but you have someone in my life who would.
- If you have already hired me — write a review, tell a friend, and hopefully rebook (if that is something that would benefit you!)
- Book me! I would LOVE to work with you!

Thank you for all of the love and support!

I am so excited to announce that Chaos Cleaned now offers gift certificates! Do you know anyone who would love to receive the gift of my services?

So, how does it work? Contact me @gmail.com in order to purchase a gift certificate.
- I offer local pick up, to mail you the certificate to gift the recipient, or I will mail to the recipient from you.
- You can purchase any amount of time (my three hour minimum purchasing agreement does still apply to this.)
- The recipient may choose which service(s) they want — decluttering, downsizing, moving services, personal shopping, organizing.
- If you have any other questions please reach out!

This is wonderful gift for someone in a transitional season: engaged couple, newlyweds, someone moving, new parents or parents adding to their family, newly single, one who has lost a loved one, or just someone who could use another set of hands with the busyness of life.

I find myself often shopping for someone and thinking to myself, “What do I get this person? They have so much . . . They do not need this . . . But I want to get them something . . .” This is the perfect gift for that person in your life — going above a material object. It is a thoughtful investment gift.

Thank you!

This is a lesson I am constantly teaching myself. So if you feel this, know that I am with you!

I created Chaos Cleaned out of burnout and a desperate need for change in my own life. After years of experience in this field I was drawn to starting my own business within this industry in hopes of minimizing and eliminating chaos in others lives — through organization, decluttering, downsizing, and anything else a space may need.

My intention has been clear from day one: to help others by cleaning the chaos — thus why I chose the name Chaos Cleaned.

Saying no to things and resting is not selfish it is SELF PRESERVING.

Check out my most recent story — I share one way I am starting to say “no” and rest. What ways could you eliminate the chaos in your own life?

Every time I work in a space that is designated for children and/or toys I ask the question, “what toys are the children currently loving and what toys are not receiving as much love?” I pose this question to get the parents thinking about the amount of use items in their home are receiving and NOT with the intent to trash, donate or sell, BUT to consider rotating toys!

Why rotate toys?
- Fewer toys at the fingertips of children keeps the home feeling less cluttered and clean up easier.
- Too many toys can be overstimulating for children which may result in the child feeling overwhelmed and limit creativity in playing.
- Each rotation feels like Christmas morning for children, getting to unload toys they may have forgotten about can be very exciting and it keeps parents from having to buy new toys.
- Every time you rotate toys you may see there are certain toys your family is ready to part with; the reality is kids grow up quickly and their toys should match them developmentally.

5 five minutes disciplines to form to reduce daily clutter:
1. Make your bed — a great way to start your day with a clear and motivated mind.
2. Open mail daily — mail can stack up quick and sneak up on you. Important documentation and bills can go rogue when you need them if you do not keep them organized.
3. Bring in all items from your car — the car is often forgotten about when considering spaces to organize, but it is equally important to the home.
4. Do dishes nightly — dishes stack up quick in my home, I know if we are not on top of them it can become a smelly eyesore. I have found doing dishes nightly reduces the overwhelming feeling of having a sink full.
5. Tidy up all miscellaneous items before going to bed each night — you’ll be thankful in the morning when you are running around looking for something that you put up the night before and can easily remember and grab said item.

It is so easy to say, “Oh I will get to that later.” Or to run into your home and throw mail, receipts, and items in junk drawers or on a table.

These disciplines will help to break the cycle putting off simple household items and help to eliminate excess clutter in your home and life. They are simple, quick, and anyone is capable of doing without being an “organizing expert.”

Which discipline would be most helpful for you to begin the train yourself on?

Swipe to see the full before + after!

This project was for a sweet family who loves and values art, and expressing creativity in a structured and organized way.

Keeping art in a bottom drawer can be HARD to keep organized without having designated places for each item. Here is what I did to help reduce the clutter:

- Pulled every item out and organized item by item into designated piles.
- Cleaned the surface of the drawers and placed the bins inside (during my initial consult I took measurements and did all the personal shopping for this project).
- Placed each item into a permanent home in the drawer using bins and acrylic trays.

This project grants the kiddos in this home freedom and accessibility to be creative at anytime, and gives them the ability to see where each item goes to aid the clean up process.

My goal is always to serve the unique goals of each of my clients, and this is just one example of my work.

This is a lesson I am constantly teaching myself — being a year out of college, getting married, moving into our own house — it is tempting to want to fill up every inch of space. But there are several reasons why NOT to have the goal of only filling a space. Here are a few thoughts to consider when you are filling your space just fill it:

1. It is not budget friendly.
2. You will probably be tempted to buy something on sale, but you may not like it.
3. Odds are you will end up something “trendy” that is currently over saturated on the shelves of target that may not be your style.
4. Things won’t make you happy in your space long term.
5. Buying things just to fill a space is how clutter begins to add up!

On the flip side, you want your house to feel like a home and your stuff will add personal flair. Here are a few tips I have for making your house a home:

1. Develop your own personal style before you buy anything — traditional, transitional, coastal, modern, minimalist, etc.
2. Only buy it you need it, have to have it, or LOVE it.
3. Know what items to splurge on that can grow old with you, and what items you can save on that will only be in your home through your current season.
4. Remember people make your house a home and not just things.
5. Do not covet what you do not have, but be grateful for all that you do have!

Which of these 10 reminders is most helpful for you?
