After a snow shoe adventure in Gorham, NH, I jumped in a Snow Coach that followed the Mt Washington Auto Road about 2/3s of the way up the mountain. With bluebird skies and the excellent narration of our guide, Ron, we lumbered through 3 of the 4 climate zones of the Mountain (northern forest, boreal, sub-alpine) to the tree line where we stopped to get out. The notorious winds kicked in while we were there; temps felt like -25°F (I’m holding on to the coach so I won’t get blown over).Views were amazing — the Presidentials, the Mahoosucs in Maine, untouched forest, views for miles. Ron entertained us with climate and geology going up, and fun, fascinating history going down(ask him about the car race record for going up the mountain 😱; the race is happening again this summer). Very touristy thing to do; highly recommend to put on your winter list to really get a feel for these impressive mountains ⛰️
