Timing is everything (more times than not).

Have you ever noticed that?

If you have a thought to do something, call someone, go somewhere, simply do it!

Don't procrastinate!

A situation presents itself at that moment, and you decide it’s the perfect time to do it.

I often do things based on timing.

And way more often than not, it works out better than if I waited.

So, when the situation presents itself, remember to do it now!

Spend 10 minutes at the end of each day tidying up your work area.

It's easy for your space to get a little messy as the day progresses, and by the end of the day you may have accumulated a pile of papers and other items around your desk.

Straightening up will make you feel accomplished, add to your productivity for the next day, and you’ll sleep better too.

Don’t underestimate the power of small chunks of time to get things done.

One example is when you have few minutes between meetings.

Come up with a list of short tasks that you can knock out in 15, 10, or even five minutes:

Answer emails; reach out to a contact; get some industry reading done.

You can do it!

Celebrate your small victories.

We have a lot of small victories that go unnoticed.

Take a moment to celebrate them!

Did you check off all the things on your to-do list that you've been putting off? Yay!

Did you finally clear out the hundreds of emails that have been filling up your inbox? Yippee!

Did you call that prospect you've been meaning to call for weeks? Whoa Whoa!

Take pleasure in these small achievements.

They add up!

Always have backup tasks at the ready.

There are times when life will attempt to derail your productivity:

A person you need to talk to is unavailable, the internet is down, or you just can't focus on the task at hand.

Have other options so that you're able to get something done even when you can't finish your primary task.

A positive thought to start the week!

Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step." ~Lao Tzu

Have a great week!

Of course weekends are for relaxing; taking some time off; having fun with friends and family.

That said, if you could find an hour or two over the weekend to clean out your inbox, knock out smaller, mindless tasks, or get a head start on any looming projects, it will save you time during the week.

Doing this while watching your favorite sports on TV or a movie on Sunday evenings can be a great way to get something done without it feeling like you're doing too much work.

I usually find myself getting at least one 'thing' done so that it's not waiting for me on Monday morning.

You’ll be glad if you do that too!

You may think that going from one task to another or from a task to a meeting is using your time wisely, however it is actually doing the opposite.

We all need time throughout the day to clear our minds and recharge between activities.

The human brain can only focus for around 90 minutes at a time.

Therefore, without a buffer, it will be much harder to stay focused.

Leave enough time between your projects to make sure you’re on time and ready mentally for the next challenge of the day.
