Gardiner Bakehouse is a Community Supported Bakehouse (CSB), a unique type of subscription program that fosters a direct connection between artisan bakers and the community they serve.

When bread-shareholders commit to purchasing baked goods on a regular basis, they receive discounted pricing, while helping to create a secure and predictable market for the bakehouse and minimize food waste and lost revenue from products that might otherwise go unsold. This, in turn, allows us to create strong partnerships with local farmers that foster a more sustainable food system.

By becoming a bread-shareholder, you are not only indulging in delicious baked goods, but your commitment makes you an integral part of reviving the traditions behind baking fresh bread, and the restoration of grain production in New York and the Hudson Valley.

The hens know spring is coming! We are thrilled to have local eggs from back on the shelves!

Every winter hens slow down and egg production drops - it is simply part of the natural cycle. With the days getting longer, the hens are laying again and we are glad to have fresh local eggs back at Gardiner Bakehouse!

It was so exciting to see Meghan Goodnow walk through the door this morning with the first fresh eggs of the season. We LOVE working with Goodnow Family Farm and keeping Gardiner rural. It may take a few weeks to have a regular supply -- but spring is definitely coming!

If it's Saturday, you'll find our Seeded Spelt Sourdough on our shelves. Possibly my favorite loaf!

Spelt is an ancient relative of wheat, known for its nutty flavor and gentle sweetness. Sunflower and pumpkin seeds are mixed into the dough and rolled on top for added crunch and depth.

This loaf is made with from Trumansburg, NY. We continually strive to work with local grains/farmers/millers to create breads that nourish our bodies and our communities.

It's hard to tell that there is a slice of toasted sourdough under there - but it is there - layered with hummus, roasted eggplant, marinated white beans and drop peppers, and arugula with a drizzle of balsamic glaze. A lovely vegan tartine! Made to order 12:00 - 2:00, and then in the case while supplies last. Open until 6pm on Tuesdays!

A tour of our front case this morning! I am so jazzed by our specials this week: a Fig & Chèvre Danish and a savory Kouign Amann filled with Red Onion Tamarind Confit and Mascarpone. It may be rainy outside, but it's bright in here! Just add coffee!
