A little progress update from Farmhouse Cakes Roadside! ❤️

We received another approval needed to move forward with opening, and it feels so good to see things continuing to fall into place.

There’s still work to do. We’re waiting on electric, finishing the interior, and checking off the last items on a very long to-do list. But every week brings us one step closer.

I couldn’t do this without my heavy lifting team. My dad, Stevie, and my kids have all spent countless hours helping bring this dream to life, and I’m so grateful for every bit of it.

This little roadside shop started as an idea, and seeing it become a reality has been pretty special.

I don’t have an opening date to share just yet, but I can tell you this…

It will be worth the wait. ❤️

This weekend Lyla helped me plant watermelons. 🍉

Usually I’m out in the garden alone, but lately I’ve discovered just how interested she’s become in growing things. And honestly? She’s pretty great at it.

Sure, she plays in the dirt a little… but she’s gentle with every plant, talks to them, waters them carefully, and loves every second of it.

This summer she’ll spend a lot of time beside me in the garden and helping care for the animals. And the more I watch her, the more I realize there really is something special about growing up close to the land.

Even if your “farm” is just a backyard garden, kids learn so much there, where food comes from, how to grow more of it, patience, responsibility, hard work, and wonder.

The vegetables are nice… but the time together, the lessons, and the memories we’re growing alongside them are the real harvest. 🤍

But in all seriousness, I wanted to give everyone a little update.

While I’m waiting on approvals and the next steps for the shop, life has also slowed me down in other ways. Right now, a lot of my time is being spent learning about dialysis and helping care for my mom through this transition. It’s been overwhelming, emotional, and honestly a crash course in a world I never expected to understand so quickly.

So if things seem a little quieter here lately, please know Farmhouse Cakes Roadside is still very much alive and growing — just growing through a slower season than I originally planned.

I’m trying to use this waiting period well:
• learning
• planning
• building ideas
• appreciating what matters
• getting the roadside shop ready one piece at a time

Good things take time… apparently county approval AND electric both agree. 😅

If you need a shed, Barb and Gary at Shenandoah Sheds probably have “the one” I went all over searching for the perfect bakery. From here to there and everywhere 🤓
Shenandoah sheds has the best selection of on site sheds around. The customer service was my favorite part because I didn’t make one but three new friends! Great people, great company!
