When the request is chocolate. And chocolate. This is a three-layer, 8-inch chocolate fudge cake with semi-sweet chocolate ganache and dark chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream. Loved how it turned out!

A Cake Decorator’s Prayer🙏🏻

Dear Lord,

As I enter this bakery battlefield today, I ask for Your strength, patience, and steady piping hand.

Please bless every cake leaving my station, that it may not only meet customer expectations, but somehow exceed the expectations they never mentioned until pickup.

Grant me the wisdom to correctly identify the exact shade of baby blue requested today. Not sky blue, dusty blue, powder blue, robin’s egg blue, ice blue, cloud blue, or “the blue from this Pinterest picture taken in different lighting.” Let every batch of buttercream magically match whichever of the one million shades of baby blue the customer has in mind.

Watch over my icing bags, that they do not burst. Protect my cakes from leaning, cracking, sliding, smudging, and all other acts of bakery rebellion.

Please multiply my time as You multiplied the loaves and fishes, because these orders seem to be multiplying on their own.

Grant that every cake is finished on time, every border behaves, every flower cooperates, every customer smiles, and no one changes the design after I’ve already started decorating.

And if a cake must fall today, Lord, please let it be before I spend hours decorating it.
