This prices are hurting everyone please be kind and respectful to our prices, we try to stay as low as posible but every day is getting harder
Just a reminder this holiday season, inflation rages on.
Starbucks sells factory made, cakepops that are half the size of ours for almost $4 each. Their cookies, muffins, cake slices, and all factory made pastries are anywhere from $3-$5 a piece and no one bats an eye. People are paying a premium for mediocre, frozen, then thawed, mass produced Starbucks goods but complaining when a small bakery asks them to pay the same price for scratch made goods, produced by a team of proficient professionals.
Butter has skyrocketed. Eggs, milk, vanilla, chocolate….everything has almost quadrupled in price. We are lucky to get away with spending less than $5k a week during holiday, for our raw materials and ingredients.
We’ve had first time patrons come in and scoff at our $5 price tag on a scratch made cupcake, insinuating we’re trying our damnedest to rip people off. Just as your home grocery bills continue to climb, so do ours. We have to raise the cost of goods so we can continue to stay open.
We don’t charge higher prices to f**k with you. It’s basic economics. When ingredients cost more, we have to charge more.
Starbucks never receives the blow back when they raise their prices. Why do small businesses take the brunt?
My hope this holiday season is that everyone acknowledges the fact that inflation has forced the restaurant industry to raise prices in order to maintain business. My hope is that everyone patronizes small, local businesses in their towns and makes their purchases count.
We’re all just trying to keep up, pay bills, give paychecks, and run successful businesses during this time in history. After all of the political unrest, social Injustices, the pandemic, and now inflation, some of us are still standing and the last thing we want to do is defend our minimal price increases while people laugh and scoff in our faces, over a Snowman cookie…while holding a $7 coffee from Starbucks.
