It been almost a year since I did my last wedding cake. Hard to believe so much time has passed. I thought I might be able to squeeze cakes back into my schedule but being a single mom of 2 teenage boys, plus working full time, does not leave me any free time. Thank you to clients who still reach out to me in hopes that I'm back to caking and so sorry to disappoint you. Maybe one day.....

If you've stopped by recently, you'll see that my business status says "Permanently closed." Yes, it is true, for now.....
I've gone "back to work" full time, although I really never quit working.
As I get used to this new status in my life, I have to put cakes on hold. But I will be back. I love it too much to say I will never cake again.
Thank you to all my wonderful clients and industry professionals for all your support. It means a lot to me and I hope to serve you again in the future.

Disney Sues Over Edible Cake Frosting Featuring Marvel, Lucasfilm Characters

Not worth the hefty fines and money you'll spend on attorneys but still so many businesses take the chance thinking "not me." I have to admit that when I first started out, I didn't realize this was illegal but once I was made aware, I stopped. Ignorance doesn't excuse you from the law and to blatenly continue once you know, is just stupid. This and "edible glitter", which is really just ground up plastic, are two of my biggest pet peeves.

It's the follow-up to a lawsuit over Darth Vader cufflinks.

Do you like sparkle and bling? Do you want your sweets to shine? People don't realize it but glitter is ground up plastic. While labeled non-toxic, it is not technically edible. Play dough and crayons are non-toxic but you wouldn't eat them. Be educated on what you're putting on your cakes or if you're eating sweets coated with sparkle. While I do use glitter, I only put it on decorative elements that are not to be eaten and always advise the client of that.

I get weekly requests to create cakes with licensed characters - you know the ones - Elsa, Big Hero 6, Cinderella, etc. And every week I say no but offer options. Not because I wouldn't love to do them but because it is illegal and I will not risk my name and business. Brides Scramble After Bakery Unexpectedly Closes

Shared from a fellow home-based "one woman show" baker in my area. I have had couples ask me what would happen if I became ill/injured, to which I do have back up plans that I've never had to use thankfully. But this just goes to show that even an "established store front bakery" isn't the full proof choice. I feel so badly for these brides.

Dozens of couples are without a wedding cake after Romano's Bakery unexpectedly closed this week in Dallas.
