We’re incredibly grateful for the kind words, support, and encouragement we’ve received since announcing our transition from Baghdad Market. Your messages truly mean the world to us.

As we turn the page, Safa and I (Omar) are excited to share a quick update:
We’re working on something close to our hearts—a modern bakery, full-service restaurant, and café coming soon!

This new concept reflects our desire to blend authenticity and modernity, building on everything we’ve learned over the past few years. It’s a fresh start that honors tradition while embracing new ideas and most importantly, it’s created with you in mind.

Dear friends and valued customers,

After 2.5 wonderful years running Baghdad Mediterranean Market, my wife Safa and I have officially passed the torch to Mr. Mohamed Alsoufi. As we’re now focused on exciting new ventures, we would like to gently remind you that Baghdad Market is now under new ownership, and we are no longer involved in its daily operations.

Due to an unexpected overseas trip, we didn’t get the chance to say goodbye in person — but your support has meant the world to us.

We’ve shared our original family recipes with the new owner, so you’ll still be able to enjoy many of your favorite dishes at Baghdad Market.
We’d also like to take this moment to wish Mohamed the very best of luck in continuing the legacy of Baghdad Market. We hope he will carry forward the same dedication and care that has always defined the business.

As for us, we’re proud to continue our journey with our family-owned business, Smart LLC, and we’re excited to announce a major expansion coming soon to Central Virginia:

A bakery, A full-service restaurant, And a cozy, soulful café

Though the location has changed, the heart of our business remains the same — rooted in family, culture, and connection.
