The Mr. and I headed uptown today to hit all the local Markets! Tonight's dinner came almost completely from our shopping! First off we hit the Original Palmer Street Farmers Tailgate Market and picked up some Garlic Scapes from Walnut Ridge Gardens . Then we hit up Artisan Alley , where The Wood Fired Grill was set up. You absolutely cannot go wrong with their meats! Then we headed up the block to the Macon County Farmers Market ! There we picked up oyster and morel mushrooms from Dream Big Farms Mushrooms, which I sauted and added into a 'risotto' along with some lovely fresh broccolini from Temperance Farm. We finished off our trip with a quart of the freshest strawberries at the market from H&H Farmstand. (Those will be dessert tomorrow!)
I cannot recommend visiting our amazing markets in Franklin NC enough!!! 👍👍

We were so pleased to be a part of tonight's fundraiser for The Special Liberty Project . As a military wife and mom, this amazing organization holds a very special place in my heart. We provided delicious Chocolate Ganache and Strawberry Cheesecake tarts for dessert to go along with their meal. I hope everyone had an amazing time!

I love when a good portion of the food on my plate is local! Today the hubby and I hit up the markets in downtown Franklin! Tonight's dinner includes pork from The Wood Fired Grill (sooooo good)who were hanging out at Artisan Alley , potatoes with shallot & garlic scapes from Walnut Ridge Gardens at the Original Palmer Street Farmers Tailgate Market, and spinach with morels from Dream Big Farms Mushrooms who were set up at the Macon County Farmers Market ! If you're into eating local, be sure to stop out to see them on Saturdays!

Good Tuesday morning! I know it's rainy out, but it's warm and dry here at Down the Rabbit Hole (5040 Highlands Road in Franklin NC). Come in to wander around, checking out the over 100 vendors, then grab a drink from The Grinning Mug. Today we are having a Mad Hatter Mocha that we've paired with a freshly baked Smoked Cheddar scone. After you've fueled up, be sure to head downstairs to go bargain hunting at Caterpillar Woods Thrift store. We're open every day from 8-5!

Sometimes things don't always work out the way we expect them to in the kitchen, so we either toss the recipe and start over, or we figure out a way to repurpose them. Cinnamon rolls didn't cooperate, so a lovely lady suggested we turn them into bread pudding! It was a fabulous suggestion!!! So come on out to Down the Rabbit Hole (5040 Highlands Road in Franklin NC) to grab a pan of Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding! While you're here, be sure to enjoy a coffee or other drink from The Grinning Mug, shop amongst 100 plus unique booths, and then check out the Caterpillar Woods Thrift store downstairs. A lovely customer was enjoying our Pina Colada scones earlier this week and mentioned that she thought a Pineapple Upside Down Cake might be good... So I decided to give it a whirl. And boy oh boy are they amazing! The Grinning Mug customized the Queen of Hearts Hibiscus tea for me, by swapping in Cherry and Pineapple syrups! It's a fantastic combination! It's Focaccia Friday! Today we've got Rosemary Garlic and Parmesan Pesto.(Made with fresh house-made pesto!!!) Both are amazing as a side dish to just about any meal. Mr. Bread and Buttercream NC likes to slice it up and enjoy it with a bowl of marinara sauce. I prefer mine with a nice garden salad. We've had customers slice them horizontally and build a big sandwich and then serve by cutting in wedges.
