We had a request for Lemon Parm Chicken one last time and we are making it! 👏
I don’t even know what to say about the phones and wait times during lunch. Yesterday we had to stop answering phones altogether for a bit to get caught up with online and in store demand. We are doing our best. I apologize to any folks I may have been short with, it was really rough.

The tentative plan is Halloween Monday 🎃, Thanksgiving Tues/Wed 🦃, and Christmas Thurs/Fri 🎄(cookies and certain bakery items only, no pre-orders or holiday meal items).

Dear Friends,
This post is a bittersweet message to write. I had hoped to prolong writing this as I continue to process the decision myself, but the cat is out of the bag now. Getting straight to the point… for several reasons we have decided not to renew our lease at the University Park Village shopping center. One of those reasons is obvious – operating a small restaurant with a large dining room in a high rent retail area does not seem to be the best business strategy for us in the current environment.

For years we have dreamed of one day finding a “forever home” for McKinley’s, and we love to imagine the possibilities that our own properly planned space would allow. But for now, we are not in a rush. I hope to enjoy this holiday season and focus on my family for the very first time. Our son is entering high school this fall and he will be gone soon! I feel I am missing it.

As far as our McKinley’s team, they are the absolute best! It takes an entire village for this place to go. I want each one of them to land in a good place. And as they begin their next chapters, our staffing situation grows thinner. My hope is to hold on with our current folks until Labor Day weekend. Closing earlier in the month of September will also give us some time to clear out our space.

All that being said….our kitchen team is now juggling the online orders in addition to the call-ins and walk-ins. They are operating in the same small kitchen space but with a thinner team. While we greatly appreciate the support (💜!), doing a rush on McKinley’s will not be fun (or safe!) for you or for us. If McKinley’s has not been a part of your summer pandemic routine then maybe now is not the time to start popping in. Or if you do, please enter with an abundance of patience and remember to social distance. We don’t want to be crying for the wrong reasons in our last days at UPV together. 😥

So this news is a bit sad because it is hard to close a really good chapter, and I have certainly cried a few tears. But it is also exciting.....who knows what God will do next? We are now free to find out. And whatever it is, it is going to be awesome. Stay tuned!!
