Hi✨ there’s some new faces here so I wanted to reintroduce myself!

I’m Nicole, affectionately known to my family as Zuga 🤪 My journey with challah isn’t just about creating beautiful braided bread – it’s about creating light in a world that can sometimes feel dark. In Jewish mysticism, we believe that every small action, every mitzvah, sends ripples of positive energy into the universe. For me, that starts in my kitchen.

When I knead dough and separate a small portion as an offering (known as hafrashat challah), I’m not just baking bread. I’m continuing a centuries-old tradition that connects me to my ancestors, my faith, and a legacy of resilience. In times when antisemitism feels overwhelming, I choose to respond with joy, with love, and with bread that nourishes both body and soul.

ZugaBakes is my way of spreading light – one challah at a time. Each loaf is made with intention, love, and hope for healing and connection.
