I didn’t open preorders last night since next week I’ll be back at the farmers market and I’ll need the whole week to prep for it! It’ll be my first market with the new dough mixer so I’m bringing a TON of goodies 😁 I’ll drop the market menu for it next week!

These crusts are pre-baked just enough so you can throw your toppings on and bake them fully at home! They also freeze very well and now come in personal pizza size 🍕

New Foley pickup location! 🗣️ this one is for all my folks that have missed out on those early morning market PopTarts too!

Preorders will be opening 5pm today for pickups at Magnolia Meat & Grocery next Friday AND sourdough burger buns will be on the menu!!! That means you’ll be able to grab your breads from me outside then stop inside for your burger meat 🍔😁

OH I forgot to mention - the burger buns will now come in 2 flavors: sesame seed or jalapeño cheddar!

Strawberry and cherry PopTarts will be on the pickup menu too! Any extras I have will be brought along and sold on site so if you don’t make the preorder you’ll still have a chance!

Ever wondered what all those little bubbles and blisters are on the crust of your sourdough loaves?

They are a hallmark of the long, slow fermentation process. All sourdough breads have a room temperature fermentation period that typically lasts several hours, but the traditional artisan loaves have a second cold fermentation period in the refrigerator. During that 12+ hour cold proof, the yeast activity slows down and gas bubbles form under the surface of the dough. When that cold dough is placed in a hot oven to be baked, the steam in those bubbles expands and are trapped under the surface - causing that signature blistered crust.

All of my traditional loaves have a total fermentation time of at least 24 hours - but typically it’s over 30. Recently I experimented with an extra long 4 day cold proof to test the flavor and sourness of an extended ferment and y’all - it was delicious!

TLDR: Blistered bread is beautiful!

I finally got a dough mixer and I loooove it! 😍 I’ve had a reliable KitchenAid for years but it couldn’t handle more than a double batch of my cookie doughs - and my breads were all being mixed and kneaded completely by hand. As you’d expect, kneading a 14lb blob of sourdough by hand can be quite a task 😅

Well this beautiful 7 quart Ooni Pro mixer is here to save the day! It can mix up to 6 loaves at once for me 💪🏼

This is a big step for my little bakery - especially when it comes to prepping for market days. I’m hoping this can add at least 10 additional loaves to my tables!

It’s also another step towards an additional oven which is still the main thing holding me back from offering a larger inventory. Right now I’m more focused on perfecting every batch, testing new recipes, and keeping my prices as affordable as possible. I firmly believe that everyone should have access to limited ingredient, high quality baked goods - and while I understand I could invest in my business more if I charged more, I’d rather invest in my customers trust! We’ll get there someday, and I’m thankful for all of your support! 🫶🏼

(Also huge shoutout to my big sis for helping secure this mixer for me!)

Heyyyy Fairhope friends 😁 I know many of you have been wanting to try the PopTarts soooo for the first time ever they’ll be available for preorder starting tonight at HotPlate.com/sachasbakery !!!

I’ll have them packaged individually just as I do at the farmers market so hopefully everyone can get a chance to snag one (or a couple!) - strawberry and cherry will be available 🍓 🍒

Other new items like the PB Choc Chip granola bars will be on the menu as well as my new mini choc chip cookies!

Pickup will be next Saturday the 23rd midday at McKenzie Farm Market

Orders open today at 5pm and close Monday - sign up for text alerts on HotPlate to be first in line when they drop!
