My background is in Special Needs Education. I went to Purdue and taught for three years out of college. My high school sweetie and I got married and were blessed with our first daughter just shy of two years later. I had the opportunity to stay home with her and I happily took it. 19 months later, we got daughter #2! I stayed home for four years total. When my girls were 4 and 2, I looked for a
part time job. No one would hire a part time special needs teacher! I had taken up cake decorating for my family and close friends. I thought that might be a fun part time job. I went to Classic Cakes because they had done my wedding cake five years earlier. I knew their product was amazing and that I would be proud to work for them. I worked there for 8 years and learned so much. Ilene McHone is honest, talented, generous, and was a great boss. In the summer of '13, my family's needs increased and didn't match up with the shop's needs anymore. Sadly, I left my sweet friends and wonderful job. As weeks went by, my friends kept telling me they would like me to still do their cakes for them but insisted on paying (I had always done them as gifts when I worked at Classic). Those cakes led to others and word started to spread. After a lot of prayerful consideration, my husband and I decided it was time to make it official. Hence, Tiffany Takes the Cake was born. I want to use this business to not only benefit my family, but to bless my community. I pray God leads all my decisions for this business and I will always give the glory for any success to him. I hope I have the opportunity to be a part of your family's special occasions sometime!
