Does it really matter to use room temp eggs?!

Why do recipes state room temp eggs and some don’t? Does it really matter?!

There are a few reasons this can make your cookies turn out weird if you aren’t using room temp eggs. So let’s discuss…

The important parts happening in a cookie recipe, let’s say, when adding eggs is to first make sure the ingredients fully incorporate and then also add air in the creaming process.

If you add cold eggs into softened butter, it can make Biggs and pieces of the butter stay in chunks so your cookie dough won’t mix well. This also then inhibits the creaming process to fully take effect.

So making sure your eggs are room temp can avoid that headache and mae sure your cookies turn out perfect.

But don’t worry, if you forget to set them out just use my quick warming tip from the video and you’ll be a set!

Do you only eat sugar?! 🤣🤣 No Diane šŸ™Œ

So here is a typical style dinner on a busy weeknight for my family very out of character to share meals here, so don’t get used to it šŸ™ƒšŸ˜†

But this meal is so good and simple I knew I had to share. And lit all your fears to bed about my eating habits.

Taco Dump Meal

2 c rice
4 c chicken broth (or beef/veggie)
1 lb good ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning
15oz black beans
1 c frozen or fresh corn
4 ox diced green chilis
1/4 c salsa
1 tsp salt
1 8oz block cheddar cheese, shredded

Preheat oven to 375

Mix all ingredients except cheese in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Mix well, then bake for 35-40 minutes. You want the liquid to be absorbed into the rice.

Then add the cheese, bake another 2-3 minutes.

Remove from oven, serve with chips, guacamole, salsa, etc. You can also swap out different proteins, salsas, and seasoning blends for different variations!

So good! Now go make it!

Rice cereal treat tip: add 1 can sweetened condensed milk to your recipe!! Makes them extra rich and creamy. You’ll thank me later 😘

Today I prepped my toffee chip cookie dough, orange cookie dough, lemon blueberry and regular cinnamon rolls.

It got done, all is well. But man I need a bigger kitchen 🤣

I can’t use brown butter because it’s so time consumingā€¦šŸ˜…

Not anymore!

I’ve had to learn some systems my friends. And my prep days are sacred! And always on my list each week is to bulk prep the browned butter.

I needed 21 sticks this week, it can vary for sure and making extra isn’t bad at all.

Most people know you can make browned butter and used it melted butter you can also let it come to room temp and chill it. So it’s super versatile!

1 stick of butter is about 113g and once browned one stick is about 90 grams. You will have to make up for the loss of moisture, it’s usually 2-3 tbsp of added liquid of choice or even an egg yolk.

So don’t get overwhelmed and def don’t skip the browned butter! Prep it instead and thank me later.

A busy prep day indeed! 🤩

This Memorial Day is starting with a bang! My Friday is basically sold out minus some rice cereal treats and Saturday is shaping up well!

Prep days are not bake days. These are days I only prep. I make my own icings, fillings, browned butter, jams, doughs, etc. all can be done in advance so bake days are easier.

Today I prepped lemon blueberry jam, cinnamon roll dough for 96 rolls, all the browned butter I would need for my cookies, and some homemade toffee for my toffee chip cookies.

What a crazy 6 months…and I’m so grateful šŸ„°šŸ„¹šŸ«¶šŸ»

About 6 months ago I opened for my first weekend at the Farmstand and began sharing all my recipes and the behind the scenes of keeping and baking.

I had no idea what I was doing really. But I knew I had a love of baking and sharing delicious recipes with others who also love to bake.

To say I’m grateful is an understatement of the year. I count every single one of you as a gift. Every message, picture, comment (well most of them šŸ˜†) I read and cherish.

I can honestly say I am entering this next year with a full heart, much expectation, and ready to roll up my sleeves, get to work, and keep serving and sharing this amazing community!
