OK, be honest, how would you react if you found a bunny in your garden?! I just pause to admire how cute they are, but also, my husband is the gardener. In our Bunny Faces and Garden Places class on March 13 at we'll decorate a half dozen cookies in fun spring designs. This is an all ages, beginner level class, where we'll learn the basics of royal icing plus some easy techniques to level up our cookies! Hop to it and get tickets on our website today!

It’s hard to believe it, but Sugarcoated Bakery is celebrating 6 years in business today, and I couldn’t let the moment pass without saying thank you.

What started as baking cookies in a countertop oven and making “delicious but ugly” cakes for family birthdays has grown into a full-time bakery serving not just my neighbors in the DMV, but shipping nationwide. Along the way, I took a leap of faith in February 2020 (yes, perfect timing to leave a stable career, right?), did pop-ups at local favorites like Aslin Beer Company, Old Town Books, and Del Ray Vintage & Flea Market, hosted my very first cookie decorating class at Lost Boy Cider , and somehow ended up teaching over 2,000 people how to decorate cookies since then.

Over the years, Sugarcoated has grown to include offering gourmet drop cookies, making logo cookies for organizations and brands, and hosting private and corporate events. This has included some truly pinch-me moments like creating cookies for Amazon’s HQ2 ribbon cutting, for my family's favorite radio station (WETA), and iHeartRadio’s DC Jingle Ball.

In 2024, I reached another milestone and converted my Del Ray condo into an inspected bakery. No longer operating under cottage law allowed Sugarcoated to grow even more while maintaining the flexibility that lets me show up for my family and do work that I love.

Whether you’ve taken a class, ordered logo cookies, booked a private event, or simply followed along and cheered me on—thank you. Your support means the world to me!

We're so excited that our upcoming St. Patrick's Day themed class at Caboose Commons is featured in their article "Mix Things Up at 7 Adult Baking Classes in Northern Virginia." If you've ever been to a class, you know we have the most amazing time! If you've been wanting to come, we've got two classes in March. In addition to the featured class, we'll also be at Stylish Patina on March 13 for our spring themed Bunny Faces and Garden Places class!
