We be jammin’! We’ve always had jam as part of our inspiration here at Jammy Toast Bakery, and its finally happening!! This is a family recipe from my great grandmother for pomegranate jelly, and my mom has been using it for years in our own home, because WE GROW our own pomegranates! Every batch is hand-pressed, hand-stirred, and canned with care. And they are even cute!! We can’t wait to bring these to our markets. Come find us!

Just who is behind Jammy Toast Bakery? Well….we’re a mother/daughter venture! Here’s my mom and I, standing in front of our little porch pick-up spot, all dressed up and ready for an afternoon high tea date at The Grand Tea Room in Escondido! Mom (Lisa) makes all our sourdough and sweet rolls, and I (Brennah) make all of our gourmet muffins and English scones. I’ve been baking alongside her my whole life, and I love being on this journey in the kitchen with her now!

We’ve had such fun coming up with unique sourdough, muffin, and scone flavors together. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next!

A little BTS on how we shape our sourdough loaves! Just one caddy clasp, then roll up that little burrito and tuck her into bed in the banneton for a long winter’s nap in the fridge overnight. A little bit of pinching and stitching happens to further tighten the dough, but that’s it!

This isn’t the only way to shape a loaf, of course, but its what works for our hydration level and gives us the bloom we like to see when they do their first covered rise while baking.

Introducing our newest fall savory flavor, Fig & Feta Sourdough! We start by finely chopping organic dried figs, then folding in fresh feta and Greek oregano for a delicate, yet savory, sourdough experience. This is perfect as a panini bread, dipped in balsamic vinegar and olive oil, or simply toasted with a bit of butter.

We simply love creating flavor profiles that you won’t find anywhere else, because we don’t follow the crowd. We set the trends!!

You can order online at jammytoastbakery.com to pick up on Fridays, or come see us at Orfila Vineyards next Sunday, October 4th, for their First Sunday Market day from 11-3. We’ll be there with our fluffy land cloud, Lillie, and all the fresh baked goods you’ll need for your week. Can’t wait to meet more of our neighbors….we’ll see you on the porch!

We at Jammy Toast Bakery are always complemented on our flavors, textures, presentation, and the quality of our baked goods. However, I’ll let you take a sneak peak at the practice, the frustration, the “this worked last week why not today?” picture of of our Apricot Jammy Twist. Even if you get a recipe right multiple times, the weather, oven, butter, size of the chicken egg can drastically change the final product! It takes experience, trial and error, and lots getting it wrong to learn how to make it right. We will always strive for excellence for you.

Our Bear Claw sweet rolls are the perfect addition to your breakfast table! Come out and see us this Sunday at Orfila Vineyards and Winery for their first Farmer’s Market Sunday from 11-3pm! We will have these sweet rolls, along with other fall flavors like Maple Pecan muffins and our Fig & Feta sourdough!

Our fall sourdough flavors will start hitting our drop windows next week! This is our brand new Fig & Feta loaf, featuring organic dried figs, salty feta cheese, and Greek oregano. Its a trip to the Mediterranean in every slice! Topped with tzatziki and slices of chicken schwarma, you just can’t go wrong.

Get ready, Escondido…..Jammy Toast Bakery is setting the flavor trends for baked goods right here in your town! Keep an eye out for more flavor drops coming this month.

Getting ready for a market is no joke! My wrists are tired, my shoulders are getting a workout, and I really am going to need a nap after this! But all of this detail work creates the BEST sourdough loaves for you! Each one lovingly handcrafted with experienced hands with a starter that is over two decades old. (His name is Tim…..I’ll tell you all about him sometime!)

Our flavors are nothing short of unique. Of course we have a classic loaf, but we also have a Churro Croissant, Rosemary Garlic Parmesan, Tuscan Italian, Mesquite Apple Cheddar, Strawberry Serrano, and Spiced Apricot Gouda!

Flavors coming up for fall include Caramel Apple, Cranberry Walnut, Fig Goat Cheese, and maybe even a Orange Clove!
