As I was roasting this morning, I began thinking, one thing I've learned over the last 7 years is that coffee doesn't always wait for a schedule.
A café gets busier than expected, a business runs through more coffee than they planned, or an event pops up, then suddenly someone needs fresh coffee... and they need it now.
That's sometimes the reality of being a small-batch coffee roaster.
The advantage of being local isn't just where I'm located, it's that I can move and I can adapt. I can respond when my customers need me most.
A massive commercial roastery simply can't turn on a dime the way a dedicated local roaster can. Their systems are built for volume mine is built for relationships. When the phone rings with a last-minute order, I don't see it as an inconvenience, I see it as an opportunity to help! That might mean early mornings, late evenings, or rearranging the roasting schedule to make sure my customers have the coffee they need, when they need it.
It isn't always the easiest way to do business but it's the right way.
Fresh coffee, honest work with real people who love taking care of real people! That's what small-batch roasting means to me, and I'm grateful every day for the opportunity to serve our local cafés, businesses, churches, offices, and coffee lovers who trust me with their name on the bag.
